My thoughts about Kela
Kela webpage is familiar to me, since I have recently had two kids, so I was making a lot of applications for maternity help, paternity leave, children allowances and so on. I find the website easy to use, but also, I noticed that a lot of information is missing and when I was trying to find information, I had a lot of questions. Their customer services work well, so I got all my answers from there. In addition, I have noticed that some applications are old-style, and others are new style done. Of course, the new type of applications is easier to fill in. Currently, I get maternity leave and child allowance from Kela.
My thoughts about OmaKanta
I use OmaKanta for checking my medical records and prescriptions. Webpage is easy to use, it has friendly interface. The main problem is that it takes long time when you can check your own record after doctor’s visit. Sometimes it is around one month since the visit. But prescription part works really fast so that you can see it in a moment.
My thoughts about Keva and Elo
When I opened Keva site, I did not find my information there, so I looked at Elo website. I am registered there. Unfortunately, my ideal pension age is 70 years old, the minimum is 69 years and 9 months, the maximum is 70 years and 10 months. It is so much! By now, my pension record is small, so I need to work harder or better job or win a lottery if I want to live good life of pensioner.
All of website I accessed with bank credentials, I think that it is very good system and quite easy to use. Personally, I prefer Mobiilivarmenne, since it is not connected with my bank.
My thoughts about online shopping
Amazon, eBay, Teemu, Shein, Zalando and etc – this list can be amazingly long. Nowadays, it is so easy and popular to use online shopping. It is interesting that you can find the same product on different website with different price. Usually, online you can find better offers, you are saving time, but you are missing the main – enjoyment and communication when you are shopping offline.
In addition, most of the websites like Teemu and eBay offers bad quality products, which makes me feel sad and make me find alternatives. Once, I ordered a dress from Amazon and it came so bad. The smell was awful, I washed it several times, had it outside, but still it was horrible. As a result, I had to put it to the trash without even wearing it once.
Usually, I like to have online shopping, but on the websites which I trust. It saves my time and gives me an opportunity to use special offers and go shopping whenever I want.
My thoughts about ResQ
Recently, I installed new application for me in my field. Since I am a restaurant worker, it is an application about food. ResQ – is an application where you can find good offers for meals. The idea is that restaurant sell out the rests of their meals at the end of their working day. For example, you can get a set of sushi for 3 euros, it is cheap. You can login and see a map of your own city and find their special offers. The only minus, which I found is that you should be fast, because there is no opportunity to book a meal.
My thoughts about digitalization
I like digitalization. It made my life easier, I can shop online, use most of the services online, I can find whatever information I need online. It is easy. Of course, it brought some difficulties because not everything is true, you should be very careful with information which you put in internet and which you use.
I find it really convenience to use such online services as Vero, Kela, Booking, Skyscanner and so on. It really saves time. It brings an opportunity to it together with your loved one without going out from home. I remember going before to Vero office and spending there two hours minimum because of amount of people.
Of course, it brought also some problems. Not everyone is familiar with computer or smartphones and online services. For example, my parents did not need to use computers in their lives, so for them is hard. At the beginning, I had to do everything for them. It took some time for them to learn how to do some application or search something in the internet.
One of the problems in digitalization is that places are closing, since everything is online. For this purposes people lose jobs. Banks, different authorities – they are just closing because you can do everything online. Of course, customer services still exist online, so that you can call by phone or to use their chats. Nowadays, chats are mainly robots, which I do not like at all. It is hard to get an answer from a robot, because you need to know which sentences to write to it.
My thoughts about Digital Competence
It was interesting to take a test. It had too many questions in my opinion, but it was easy to follow them. I loved the interface of the website. Honestly saying, I am surprised with the results. I thought that I am better in modern digitalization, then it is time to learn more!

My overall thoughts about Digital Citizen
This part of the course was interesting. Despite of that I am familiar with basic Finnish authorities such as Kela, OmaKanta or Vero and how to use their webpages, I found something new about my pension. I have still so many years to work.
While reading blogs of other students, I enjoyed their ideas. It is interesting to find that most of the students have the same opinions about most of the things and I am agreeing with them.
Digital competence test was super entertaining. It made me think about a lot of things about my own digitalization process. I thought that I am quite good in all these things. It showed that there is a room for improvement. So, I have some homework to do.
