My job and my daily digital tools
Last five years, I am working as a restaurant management in a Golf course. My job consists of customer service, control of restaurant operations, training and organizing workers. Honestly saying, I am doing more face-to-face work with variety of people. My usage of ePlatforms is not so big and deep. However, my main use:
- Google docs Sheets for creating timetables for the group, making financial reports;
- Microsoft Excel for logging working hours of my group;
- Microsoft Docs for creating advertisements and lists;
- Canvas for making advertisements and other products;
- Google search engine for finding new offers and inspiring;
- Microsoft Outlook for emailing;
- Microsoft Teams for online meetings with bosses and trainings;
- Different webpages for making orders (such as Kespro, Olvi, Hartwall, VinPak and etc);
- WordPress for uploading information about the restaurant to our webpage of Golf course;
- Instagram and Facebook for entering new interesting information for our customers;
- WhatsApp for communicating with coworkers,
- Kassa program Woodly for doing financial part of the work.
My five choices
ChatGPT
ChatGPT is an Artificial Intelligence tool. I think that it is the most popular platform nowadays. I find a use of ChatGPT significant for our business because it can help to create new ideas, new options. It saves a lot of time during the research process. In addition, it can help to create timetables or advertisements.
Blogger
It is a tool for creating blogs. Now is a time for social media. They are super popular. Almost every person is using some social media tool more or less. I think that Blogger can be useful in my workplace, because you can create blog about our restaurant and share there all the news, offers, advertisements, show pictures of food or catered tables for special events. It gives a possibility to attract more people.
Doodle
Doodle is the fastest and easiest way to schedule anything — from meetings to the next great collaboration. It is a completely new tool for me, but I found it as amazing tool, because we have a lot of meetings, competitions and etc. It might help to keep all of them organized and up to date. Honestly, we still have a paper calendar where we write all the information. Unfortunately, sometimes, information gets lost.
iAuditor
iAuditor is a platform where you can create different lists. For example, it can be a list from the morning shift for the evening shift where you can find tasks which were done or not. It might make working process easier and more clear for everyone.
Pinterest is a quite popular platform for inspiration. You can find variety of photos, recipes there. Personally, I use it often to find some inspiration for own styling or designing of my house. But I have never thought about it as a working tool. As a restaurant we can find there some pictures about beautiful meals or tables. It can be very useful.
My thoughts about Social Media pros and cons
Pros:
- Communication – makes life easier, helps people to connect and communicate;
- Information and awareness – nowadays is so easy to find any necessary information;
- Business and marketing opportunities – online shopping, special offers and millions of advertisements;
- Networking and career growth – platforms like LinkedIn helps to stay connected in professional life;
- Entertainment and creativity – it offers space for variety of entertainment platform and courses.
Cons:
- Addiction and time consuming – it is very time consuming, sometimes it is possible can get lost of time while browsing internet;
- Privacy and security – people are under magnifier, it is important to be careful about information which you put in internet and which you use from it;
- Misinformation and fake news – person have to be careful about what is written in internet, different posts may be not true and lead to fake information;
- Mental health issues – scrolling Instagram can be depressing, while looking at all people with perfect bodies and faces and lives. It is important to remember that it is just a picture. Real life can be different.
Overall, I think, that social media is a good tool for modern people but is important to be careful in usage. In addition, it is important to remember about real life – meet with people in real world, remember about your friends and relatives, spend quality time with parents, children and friends. We are not robots, we are people with our feelings, interests and movements. We need to have real lives.

My self-evaluation
I really liked this part because I found out a lot of new tools for work and my personal life. I listed only five here as useful for my work life, but I learnt about all of them. It is amazing how much tools you can find for making you life easier. Sometimes, when you see some application or website, it is hard to think how can it be used in you life. Personally, I like a lot such applications or ePlatforms which are compatible with my phone and computer at the same time. For example, I have a calendar which is automatically gets updates from my phone to computer and otherwise. It helps me to be on track of my tasks and in control of my live.
Honestly, all the digitalization and opportunity for so much applications and platforms make me scary sometimes. It makes our lives easier, but then I see a lot of people who are addicted to the computers or phones. Small children are all the time in the phones or playing videogames or something else. They forget about the friends and real life. And how much it is important to socialize, learn how to communicate, move outside your own house, go real shopping. People have to remember about these opportunities.
