I am Anu Marjatta Kainulainen, a artisan and visual artist. I love everything old and rusty, and I create art and jewelry using all kinds of junk and recycled materials. I draw a lot and paint whenever I feel like it. And I do all sorts of other things too. If I don’t know how to do something, I learn. I hold degrees in Textile Design and a Master’s in Social Sciences. Currently, I am studying for a multidisciplinary Master’s degree, aiming to become an expert in sustainable futures. I work as a teacher of handicrafts and visual arts at Kuopion kansalaisopisto
I am proficient in a wide range of craft and visual art techniques. I can sew, felt, print and dye fabric, crochet, knit, tat, paint, create graphics, make ceramics, etc. My extensive skill set enables multidisciplinary work, and I often use multiple techniques simultaneously.
My work and working style can be described with the words playfulness and cheerfulness. I constantly strive to observe my surroundings with an open mind and want to highlight things that bring joy from my environment. I am increasingly concerned about the planet we live on, and recently, my work has begun to address issues such as biodiversity loss, overconsumption, and other phenomena related to human-caused climate change.
