Accessing information – Finnish Students<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I accessed KELA, KEVA (for my pension information) and OmaKanta. I accessed Kela via Suomi.fi as I was already signed-in there, and it provided me with a link to go straight to KELA<\/strong> – received letters. I checked if I had paid my student heath fees. I used my Mobile-ID https:\/\/mobiilivarmenne.fi\/<\/a>. I have already acquired a EU Health Insurance Card (EHIC). It is renewed automatically and I receive it by post. It’s great for travel in EU and Australia. To go to KEVA<\/strong> site and to access my pension information, I had to sign in with via https:\/\/www.keva.fi\/henkiloasiakkaalle\/omat-elaketietosi\/<\/a> and then “sign-in” and I had to choose between “access your own records” or “access someone elses’s records”. After that, I had to use my Mobile-ID registered with my phone sim card. It requires the phone number and the it sends it to the phone as a flash notification and I gave it my PIN-code. Next it forwards me to “My Pension” and shows my full name on the top of the page. I could now chose between calculating my pension or to view my registered data from my employers, such as annual income. It turns out that I have to work until I’m seventy-years old! I decided to sign out after this. The site is available only in Finnish and Swedish languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OmaKanta<\/strong> is Finland\u2019s national health data portal (OmaKanta – Kanta.fi<\/a>) and I’m very familiar with the platform, as I often ask my clients to show specific medical notes from a visit to healthcare, such as specific dates or diagnostic codes as needed to consider their ability to function; work and attending educational courses or workshops. This site requires a Finnish social security (identity) number and it operates in Finnish and Swedish and the information page (only) in English, information brochures are also available in Inari S\u00e1mi, Skolt S\u00e1mi, Northern S\u00e1mi, Russian and Estonian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I logged in again via “Mobile certificate” or Mobile-ID. It states that I have last time used the service on 13.11.2025 at 10:37. This time stamp is a good way to know if someone has accessed my account without my knowledge. Now I can view my prescriptions and ask for renewals, view my laboratory results, patient and social service records, make a organ donor document (a will), manage my underage child’s records as well as give permissions to patient records etc.. At the moment in April 2026 I can see that there are 2 versions of OmaKanta. The new site is not yet fully functional.

Digital shops like Amazon, Booking.com, Trivago and evaluate pricing – is it reliable?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Web-services such as travel agents and services for a travel accommodation and car rental places are not reliable as they change pricing on daily bases and depending on how many times people search for the information on the subject. Flight ticket pricing can easily go up based on algorithm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also the sites may not include true prices and actual price is higher with value added tax, hidden fees and such that only show at “checkout”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digitalization and the gap; what are the risks and challenges for the people who do not use virtual services?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

People who do not use virtual services are affected by the digitalisation gap which creates practical, social, and economic disadvantages for them. Many services are now primarily online. Banking, healthcare appointments, tax services, education platforms and many others.

Without digital access, people must rely on few offline options. Job applications, training, and remote work are mostly digital. Learning platforms and resources are mostly online. Even applying to schools and jobs is now done via email or a specific site that requires a secure login identification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lack of experience and education in technology makes it harder to learn later on. When these people later go online, they may be more exposed to scams or misinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People may rely on family or professionals to help them with digital tasks which may reduce their independence and privacy as well as becoming excluded from society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoiding digital services can reduce risks like privacy loss or data misuse which regulations like the General Data Protection Regulation try to address, however, complete exclusion usually creates more serious long-term disadvantages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The digitalisation gap is not just about technology as it affects equality, opportunity, and participation in the modern society<\/strong>. Bridging the gap requires both digital access (devices, internet) and skills (digital literacy).<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ty\u00f6markkinatori.fi<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I work at the Helsinki Employment Services and I use Ty\u00f6markkinatori daily. I use it as a governing tool with our clients to write plans, record their employment history, their education history and the services they may attend or have attended. The administrative access is for authorised personnel only and with various levels of security access. Clients must securely login in order to access their information.

The main site is open access and services all employers and job seekers in Finland and abroad. From September 1st 2026, it is compulsory by law for all our registered clients to create a “Job Applicant Profile” via page Henkil\u00f6asiakkaat – Job Market Finland<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This profile will be used to match open job postings using employers’ key words with job titles, education and skills. The profile uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a platform for the matching. The goal is to better find applicants for the matching job descriptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The open site has information on job vacancies, training and services, such as short training with recruitment or comprehensive degree-training opportunities for people. One can also access news and statistics on working life in Finland. Signing in is needed in order to apply to any training programs, as these services are catered for the clients with job seeking status. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
