Week 2

This week was quite eventful and I was able to cannulate a patient who needed blood transfusion successfully.

Also, due to the prevalence of cancer diagnosis in my ward, I have been fascinated by the different kinds of drugs being used for treatment and pain management.

I was priviledged to work in the hematology unit where the result of blood tests are analyzed to see the effect of drugs on blood components. This is necessary because the drugs used to treat cancer can sometimes be harmful to normal blood cells.

The coming week, I will be working together with my mentor nurse in the medication room and I am sure this will further enlighten me on the different drugs there is and their uses.
