This week has been quite challenging and at the same time fulfilling for me as I was able to work in the different nurses’ role in the operating room.
At first, I was scared of working as a scrub nurse for an elective caesarian section due maternal request but with the guidance and supervision of my mentor nurse, I was able to. After the procedure, I asked for feedback from my mentor nurse and she informed me that I did well considering it was my first time. she also asked me why I was scared at first, I told her I was afraid of mixing up the instruments or not knowing what instrument to give if requested, she told me it’s normal to be scared and that was why she was there to guide me, also, the surgical instruments can seem overwhelming at first but I can learn a particular set of instruments at a time in order to get familiar with them.
