So far, I have had a wonderful and rich experience during my internship. I have observed how nurses seek the consent of patient before any procedure, their names are also confirmed before being given medications in order to ensure the right person is given the right medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I learnt some fascinating things about the drug paracetamol, though relatively safe, should not be used in patients with liver impairment and also its intraveneous form should run for 15 minutes. It should be given with caution in patients with low blood pressure because its intraveneous form contains manitol which further lowers the blood pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have learnt so far that being a nurse, you have to work as a team member and consult with other team members to achieve a common goal, for instance, when my mentor nurse who is a registered nurse consulted with a practical nurse for wound care because she has more expertise in that field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have also set out to ensure I work aseptically and this has been noted and commended by those I have worked with. I was elated when my mentor nurse said I should prepare the medications while she documents because I can now do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the coming weeks, I would like to get more familiar with documentation and get familiar with more drugs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
