I work as a biomedical laboratory scientist in department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine in Kuopio University Hospital. My job involves performing various clinical physiology measurements in collaboration with doctors or independently. These tests include for exchample lung function tests, heart function tests, esophageal tests and autonomic nervous system function tests. I also work in Nuclear Medicine in myocardial perfusion imaging in collaboration with radiologists and doctors.
Our department has two employees who are responsible for sharing information about our work on social media and at the same time getting students or graduated biomedical laboratory scientists interested in our workplace. The Instagram app. is mainly used for this information. Our main communication channel is Teams. We have created different groups in this app. for different information. In my own department separate pages have been created for different workstations, where the responsible nurses post messages that belong to everyone. It`s easy to notice the arrival of new information in this application. In addition to Teams, email Outlook is also used.

is nice app to get translation of spoken and written languages. This app seems to be very easy to use and will save working time. We have several immigrants undergoing examinations in our department and it would be useful for them to receive patient instructions in their own language before arriving for the examination.

With Social media it is easy to get visibility, but on the other hand people can give nasty feedback without any empathy. Social media gives a big opportunity to build a new network around specialities, which is used in our own working department. For this purpose security must be well protected. The problem is the huge information overload, so it`s important to ensure authentic information sources.
I am slow to learn new applications and many times I asked help from my own children to get started. At my work Teams is very useful application, practically all information goes through this app and doctor`s meetings and lectures are calendared here. In addition to the Teams app I have used some extra applications for surveys that can easily produce statistics. I think it could be necessary to expand my knowledge and skills in social media management. This way I could stay up to date with developments.
