Kela
The link in the assignment didn’t work, but I visited Kela’s website. I personally don’t currently use Kela’s services, but I am familiar with them from my maternity leave, when I received parental allowance through Kela and flexible care allowance after returning to work, which allowed me to work reduced hours when my children were small. Kela also currently pays me child benefits for children under 18.
For my work, I cooperate with Kela every year when I submit companies’ pre-filled Kela compensation applications electronically to Kela’s server, so that companies can apply for compensation for occupational health care costs from Kela. If necessary, I also provide Kela with additional explanations for Kela compensation applications when they request them.
I have also received a European health insurance card through Kela.

Kanta service
Through the My Kanta service, I have searched for information regarding, among other things, valid prescriptions and my vaccination information. I find it easy to use and the instructions are easily accessible.

Keva
I couldn’t download my earnings-related pension statement from the Keva website. I wondered if this was because I hadn’t previously approved the submission of an electronic earnings-related pension statement through the Varman website. I logged in to the työeläke.fi service, which directed me to the Varman website. There I found information about my earnings-related pension statement. I couldn’t find information about the amount of my pension at the age of 63 and 67. My lowest estimated retirement age is 67 years 4 months, my target retirement age is 69 years 5 months, and my highest retirement age is 70 years. I think my pension accumulation is currently quite good compared to the current price level.

Digital shopping
I went to check out the Amazon and eBay websites. In my opinion, using the websites and comparing prices was not easy, and I couldn’t easily find the product I wanted there. When comparing prices, I noticed that the prices were not clearly cheaper for several products. I don’t really trust such ordering sites, because they are not always easy to use and are in English, which is not my native language. I also wonder about product safety and whether the images correspond to the actual product I would receive if I ordered from them. I don’t think I would order products from these sites in the future.

Booking.com and Trivago are services I am familiar with. I have made several holiday reservations through these sites in the past, among other things. Sometimes I can find good offers on these sites that I take advantage of. However, there have often been no significant differences in prices between the sites. I believe that the price is more affected by the time of the booked holiday, for example. I believe that I will continue to use these services and trust these sites.

Digital application from my own field
I currently work in the healthcare sector and chose Mehiläinen’s OmaMehiläinen application as the application. I chose this application because service providers in the private sector are ahead of public healthcare in digital solutions. It is easy to log in to the application by identifying yourself with your bank account details. I can conveniently manage my own and my children’s health matters through the application. I can read my previous treatment records, book appointments at the medical center, log in to the doctor’s chat, see my vaccination information and prescription information, etc. I feel that using the application supports managing health matters remotely.

Digital divide
In my opinion, the rapid development of digitalization can put people in an unequal position, as not all people have the same abilities to use digital services and they have to rely on the help of loved ones or outsiders. I also consider the perspective that not everyone would necessarily want to use smart devices and electronic identification services, but today’s society forces this. For them, managing everyday matters can be very complicated and difficult, for example, handling banking matters and the number of public service points such as Kela has been reduced in recent years. Face-to-face communication has decreased and can particularly challenge the availability of services for special groups.
Nowadays, digitalization and its development are continuous in the workplace and also require employees to stay up to date with digital developments both at work and in their free time. It also challenges employers to adequately familiarize and train employees so that employees have the opportunity to perform their work well enough in a digital society.

Self-assessment
Through the assignment, my understanding of the development of digitalization deepened. In particular, I reflected on the fact that today’s employees need to be up to date with the trends of digital development in their own work and in their own lives. When reading other students’ blogs, I noticed that many had also considered the possibility of social exclusion as a disadvantage of digitalization. I reflected on the fact that in the future.
