ePLATFORMS

My work as an occupational health nurse is diverse and increasingly requires mastering the use of electronic tools. We produce a wide variety of data for our client companies, which we must be able to analyze before we hand over the information to the company. The job description of an occupational health nurse has developed enormously over the past decade. I use dozens of different digital tools in my work every day. In our patient work, we use the dynamic Health patient information system. With the help of add-ons made to it, I can send my clients treatment-related messages, which they can see via the Terveystalo application. Some of the reception work is done via video connection via the ninchat service. If necessary, I can consult a doctor via an internal consultation chat, for example, if I need a referral from a doctor for a client at the reception. Most of our meetings are currently held via the Microsoft Teams service. I can send messages to the contact persons of client companies via our secure Suunta service. In addition, there are many other digital solutions used for customer reporting and producing written work.

Five social media tools

Chat Gpt
I have not used the CHAT GPT tool in my work before. However, during this course and previous study modules, I have been able to practice using it. I believe that in the future I could use it, for example, to check the grammar as a support for writing documents. I could also use it when I am going on a job visit in a new industry and need background information about an industry that I am not familiar with before. It is important to note in my work that I cannot ask the program to check the grammar, for example, in a text that contains company information such as the name or business ID.

LinkedIn
I only became familiar with this digital service a short time before the start of this course. Through the training, I have started to consider new career plans and I believe that through this service I can network better and find jobs that interest me more easily. In addition, I can find training and seminars that correspond to my own field and interests through the service.

Whatsupp
I could use this service in my work, for example, for matters related to occupational well-being. The service is not secure, so work-related matters cannot be handled with colleagues through it. For example, we could create a joint Whatsupp group in our work community and share with each other, for example, empowering things from our everyday lives. This could have a positive impact on our work community and increase cohesion.

Youtube
I could use YouTube in my client work, for example, when teaching asthmatics how to use inhalers. There are many different educational videos available there. I have also used it with sleep coaching patients, for example, to guide various breathing exercises and relaxation exercises.

Microsoft- Forms
I could use the Microsoft- Forms tool in my work, for example, when preparing for a company meeting and collecting information from occupational health teams in other locations in advance to support the data I am processing.

Self-assessment
I thought I already use a lot of different digital tools in my everyday life, but with the assignment I discovered that there are many more than I imagined. With the assignment and this course, I have gained the courage to try different tools. I would never have thought before that I could make a blog, and in English, but here it is, albeit in a rather simplified form. I feel that the digital world is not very motivating for me, but I understand its importance in today’s society and working life better. This knowledge helps me to motivate myself to develop my skills in this area as well.
A few years ago, I completely left social media in my free time. However, my interest in it is gradually reawakening. I think that if I join social media again in addition to LinkedIn, I will think more carefully about what I want to follow there and what information I want to share.
