Social Media in My Professional Work<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Social media and digital applications have become an important part of modern business. I currently run a new Arabic Kandura tailoring business in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Since the company is still developing, I have several responsibilities, including managing 4 staff members, contacting suppliers, purchasing materials, communicating with customers, managing finances, promoting the business, and planning future development.
I currently use WhatsApp, TikTok, ChatGPT, Instagram and Snapchat in my daily work. I selected these five tools because I already use them and they support different areas of my business. WhatsApp is mainly useful for communication, while Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat support marketing and customer engagement. ChatGPT can support content creation, planning and finding ideas.
My previous experience as a dentist has given me experience in working with people, communication and responsibility. My ongoing Master’s studies in Digital Health at Savonia University of Applied Sciences are also helping me develop skills in digitization, project management, problem-solving, communication, entrepreneurship and continuous learning. I can apply what I learn from my studies to my business and use digital tools to improve its development and daily operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WhatsApp<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

WhatsApp is probably the most useful tool for my daily business communication. I use it to contact customers, staff and suppliers, share pictures, discuss orders and check material availability. It is especially useful when I need a quick answer without making a phone call or visiting a supplier.
The main advantage is its simplicity and speed. However, when many conversations are happening at the same time, important messages can be missed. I also need to be careful about what customer or business information I share. For me, WhatsApp works best when conversations are kept clear and organised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TikTok<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

TikTok is useful for promoting my Kandura business through short videos. I can show new designs, fabrics, finished Kanduras and parts of the tailoring process. This gives potential customers a quick idea of what the business offers. The platform can help a business reach people without relying only on traditional advertising. The challenge is that creating good content takes time, and having many views does not necessarily mean having more customers. I therefore need to focus on useful and professional content rather than simply following every trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ChatGPT<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I use ChatGPT as a supporting tool for different business tasks. It can help me develop marketing ideas, write social media content, improve messages and organise my thoughts when I am planning something new. At the same time, I do not treat every answer as correct. I check important information and use my own judgement, especially when making business decisions or dealing with confidential information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instagram<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Instagram is important for my business because Kanduras are a visual product. I can use photos, videos and stories to present designs, fabrics and finished work. Customers can see examples of our work before deciding to contact us.
Instagram can also help build a recognisable business identity over time. However, good content requires regular effort, and attractive posts do not always lead directly to sales. I therefore see Instagram as a way to build customer interest and trust, rather than only as a place to advertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Snapchat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Snapchat can be useful for sharing more informal and daily content. I can show new Kandura designs, activities in the shop, fabric choices and special offers. This can give customers a more personal view of the business.The short-lived nature of Snapchat content can be useful for temporary offers and updates, but it is not suitable for information that customers may need to find later. I would therefore use Snapchat mainly for quick updates while keeping important business information on more permanent platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benefits and Risks of Social Media<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Social media can support my business by improving customer communication, increasing visibility and helping me present our products to a wider audience. It can also make some daily tasks faster and more convenient.At the same time, using several platforms requires time and regular attention. There can also be risks related to privacy, security, negative feedback and sharing incorrect information. However ,Social media is useful when it is used responsibly and with a clear purpose that supports the business and its customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Is Needed for Successful Use of Digital Applications<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Successful use of digital applications requires more than simply having an account. The application should have a clear purpose and be suitable for the task. I need to understand what I want to achieve and choose the right tool for it. Consistency is also important, especially for social media. Content should be relevant, clear and suitable for the target customers. Digital skills are necessary to use applications effectively, create suitable content and protect business information. Continuous learning is also important because digital applications and online trends change quickly. At the same time, human judgement remains necessary. Digital tools can support my work, but important business decisions still require my own experience and understanding of the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digitalisation the Digital Gap<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Digitalisation creates new opportunities for my business, but not all customers have the same digital skills or access to technology. Some may still prefer phone calls or visiting the shop directly. Therefore, I should provide different ways for customers to communicate with the business. Staff may also have different levels of digital skills, so simple support can help them use digital tools effectively. Technology should make our work easier without creating barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Self-Assessment<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

This assignment helped me understand the wider role of social media in business and the importance of using digital applications effectively. It made me think about both the opportunities and challenges that these tools can create, especially in communication, marketing, time management and customer relationships.
I learned that different tools have different purposes. WhatsApp is useful for communication, while Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat can support marketing and customer engagement. ChatGPT can help with ideas, writing and planning, but I still need to check information and make my own decisions.
Managing a business while continuing my Master’s studies also requires me to organise my time and learn continuously. This assignment showed me that digitalisation is not only about using new technology. It is also about choosing suitable tools, using them responsibly and understanding their advantages and limitations. Overall, I want to continue developing my digital skills and find practical ways to use technology to support my customers, employees and future business development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
