HARJOITTELU: LASTEN, NUORTEN JA PERHEIDEN HOITOTYÖ

Paediatric and Family Nursing Practice

Tuntimäärä: 7 op. –  185 t. / 5 viikkoa. Harjoittelu kesto: 5 viikkoa, 7 – 11,  2023.

Paikka: Kurkimäen päiväkoti, Kuopio

Minusta:

Nimeni on Inga. Olen jo toinen vuoden opiskelija sairaanhoitajaksi Savonia AMK:ssa. Suoritettu 110/210 opintopistettä.

Aikaisemmat harjoittelut: Sisätautipotilaiden hoitotyö ja Perushoitotyö oli Akuutti ja Dialyysi osastot Viitasaari Sairaala. Keski-Suomen sairaanhoitopiirin.

Hoitotaidon – 7 op.  ja Sisätautipotilaiden hoitotyö – 7 op.,  Akuutti osastossa, Viitasaaren Sairaala (suomeksi 50% ja englanksi 50%)

Minulla on koe lasten hoitoa – se oli Perioperatiivinen harjoitteluni  Heräämössä; KYS:ssä.

Heräämö:ssä minä työskentelin lasten ja aikuisten kanssa saman aikan. Koska joka päivä tuolla olivat lapset leikauden jälkeen. 

Yleensä se oli hava-  ja kipu-hoito.

Tottakai, päiväkodissa ei ole samoin kliinistä harjoittelua kuin sairaalassa. Mutta päiväkodissa on monta oma hyötyä.

Silloin minulla on todella hyvä mahdollisuus verrata normaalia terveydentilaa lapsen ja puudutuksen jälkeen lapset. Terveen lapsen käytös, puhe ja motoriset taidot todella erilainen kuin sairaan lapsen. Olen todella varma että  se on hyvä tietoa ja hyvä koe  joka tapauksessa terveydentila ja sairauden tila.

Olen todella varma, että minulle on hyvä tieto ja hyvä koe harjoitella niin kuin terveys lasten kansa samoin kuin sairaus lasten kansa.

Olen ammatiltani sairaanhoitaja ja 10 vuoden kokemuksen kansa sairaanhoitajaksi.

Kindergarten daily care is pretty different from hospital nursing and has unique features and special skills. Therefore, it is a very interesting and useful practice, as follow:

Children’s and adolescents’ wellbeing and healthy development; Nutrition care (e.g. Vitamin D supplement); Hygiene and healthy grow with family support; teaching and guidance; Children’s medical interventions if necessary (e.g.: Insulin s.c. inject., asthma inhalations); Vital Sings assessment; if necessary, of children’s and adolescents pain and fear assessment with various treatment methods (I hope it will not be required); Implementation the National Legislation related child and family and ethical basis points; cooperation with child protection authorities.

My general targets:

  1. Implement my previous practice skills and my knowledge from the Paediatric course material in real life in real life, both theory and internship;
  2. To get new skills and knowledges in Child and Family wellbeing.

How do I learn? What kind of learning style I have?

Commonly, I am a reading, observing and asking student. Additionally, I like by myself to make questions and to get my own answers. I have critical thinking and logical mind with good memory. I am able to focus deeply onto important points.

However, in this internship I have an unique opportunity to study via playing. I am sure it is the really great learning method.

My goals and competencies: Whereas, my internship will be in the Kindergarten thus my goals are quite differ from common clinical environment. But as I have mentioned before, it is unique features and special skills.

LEARNING SKILLS / OPPIMISEN TAIDOT

Level of competence: In Savonia UAS and by my previous internships I have already gotten a lot of knowledge and practical skills in various nursing care fields, such as: clinical, paediatric, preoperative, physical activity, mental etc. All of them I am willing to apply in this practice.

I am seriously attentive and really cautious about various nursing care work and especially my duties related to family and their health.

 

It helps me to improve and develop my soft- and hard-skills.

From my point of view, in Paediatric and kindergarten internship the hard-skills should be follow:

  • good knowledge, responsibility and ability  to account the different characteristics of a growing body and look for any unusual aspects of a child’s physical development;
  • being fully aware of the legal requirements and guidelines regarding actions with child and their parents;
  • advising parents regarding the available metods if any issues/ problems arise;

Thus the soft-skills in Paediatric and kindergarten internship should be follow:

  • Attention to even small/ unimportant details. Because sometimes children can not axplain  what they are feeling and what has been happened. Therefore strong communication skills are sometimes not enough for a pediatrician to identify any issues. When children are too distressed to express what they’re feeling or when they simply lack the vocabulary to do it, the pediatrician needs to be able to notice even small/ unimportant.
  • Strong communication skills. When communicating with the children, they need to have comfortable and clear  understandable sphere.  When communicating with parents, they need to be able to properly explain both the illness and the treatment options, giving the  enough information to make an informed decision.
  • Empathy. Children are significantly less tolerant of physical pain and emotional distress than adults. therefor I have to be be aware of this and minimize these negative effects.

 

I am always welcoming critique and true feedback. Likewise I am able at the same time evaluate myself my skills and my action with my own self critic view.

Respect, sensitivity and empathy are significant and important aspects in paediatric nursing. I will have to be responsible for patients with a range of needs so being highly organised and flexible .

Goals: Improve and develop my soft and hard skills; be a good team-player with my colleagues and with child; evince empathy, friendly and compassion.

ETHICAL COMPETENCE AND PROFESSIONALITY / EETTINEN OSAAMINEN JA AMMATILLISUUS

Level of competence: I have to implement the professional ethical principles and legislation related to child rights. Additionally, I have to consider the cultural and child orientation aspects.

Goal: To get same view, language and mindset like kids (to be like child);to get trust and respect with him ot her; to get to know the child’s culture closer and to understand him ot her.

WORKING SOCIETY COMPETENCE / TYÖYHTEISÖOSAAMINEN

Level of competence: I have already contact with the team members of this when was having an interview andI have to know them better. I am sure it helps me in my practice gaining more experience in this field.

Goal: to be good team-player and responsibility for my own work. This works both with kids and with my colleagues.

To be friendly, honest and open minded; to be able to talk with kids about his or her emotions and worries and they will not fear to share it with me.

PATIENT-ORIENTED NURSING CARE / ASIAKASLÄHTÖISYYS

Level of competence: I was working with the kids and with their parents / relatives in Heräämössä, KYS in my preoperative internship. I believe that this competencies will help me now. I will be needed a lot of advises and guidance on the first steps from my colleagues.

Goal: to provide resource-oriented family nursing care, inform the parents about the current child develop level and about the experiences, his or her thoughts , achievements for the day and overall wellbeing , maybe some problems that need solutions and the things that we can focus on.

EVIDENCE-BASED NURSING AND DECISION-MAKING / NÄYTTÖÖNPERUSTUVA TOIMINTA JA PÄÄTÖKSENTEKO

Level of competence: I assume that in order to explore these competencies further, I will consider examples from this very practice, and links will be made between the various examples from practice and the competencies in order to demonstrate their importance.

Goal: I want to be able to apply evidence-based information on children’s growth and development, the factors influencing them and on family nursing .

CLINICAL NURSING CARE / KLIININEN HOITOTYÖ

As I have mentioned before, this internship will be in the kindergarten thus my goals are quite differ from a common internship in clinical environment. but kindergarten has advantages.But it is a great new experience.

Level of competence: Children’s and adolescents’ wellbeing and healthy development; Nutrition; Hygiene and healthy grow; medical interventions , if necessary (e.g.: Insulin s.c. inject., asthma inhalations); Vital Sings assessment; of children’s and adolescents pain and fear assessment with various treatment methods, if necessary.

I have had Pain and Pain management work in my previous internship in Preoperative internship in HUS.

Goals: to understand, analyse and evaluate child interests and needs, mood changes and wishes; playing a lot with kids; to build trusting relationships with kids; offering emotional support and handling family members in difficult situations in case.

I am sure this internship will provide me the best practice in  Family  Care, Child Welfare, Physical Assessment of a Child (maybe pain and pain management), Child’s play skills, Early Childhood education.

Yes there will not be any activities like: Drug Calculation, Pain and Pain management,  Medication and Fluid Therapy.

But I will get significant fundamental knowledge about early childhood physical and mental development hat will help me to work with ill child.

    Sinun lähötasosi on hieman “ympäripyöreä”, vaikea saada selville mitä sinä tarkoitat konkreettiesti tässä harjoittelussa?
    Kerroit että sinulla on monen vuoden kokemus sairaanhoitajana Venäjällä, mutta onko sinulla kokemusta lasten hoitotyöstä, työnkentelystä lasten kanssa? Jos on kokemusta, niin miten se poikkeaa aikuisten hoitotyöstä? Ja jos ei niin miksi tämä harjoittelu on tärkeä? Mitä tästä päiväkotiharjoittelusta voi oppia? Voit oppia näitä asioita hyvn vaikkakin harjoittelupaikkasi on päiväkoti? Se osaaminen on muutakin kuin kuvaamisiasi asioita?
