Learning Skills

Level of competency:

In oder to be hight level  professional I have to clear understand what I want, what is my general target, and only then try to achieve it. This is why I ought to be able to set up goals and make the description of the level of competence.

FortunatelyI have had my 1st Internship in this Department. Now I have same Mentors and I know how team work hereby, that’s very important for me. I am familiar with daily health care procedures in this Department. Talking about responsibilities , I may say that I comprehend the whole importance of following the order, guidelines and rules, since this concerns not only my safety, but also the safety of patients and my fellow colleagues. Even in the first practice, and before that at school I was taught to warn about delays, absences and other unforeseen situations.

I am always welcoming about feedback and any comments on my work and advice. I am sure it is impossible to learn something and improve something without getting feedback on your work. I request feedback immediately after the procedures, etc.

I know haw to work with Pegasos database, HiPro, Haw to use Duodecim to drugs provide, haw and when to use eMedical Passport .If necessary, I can demonstrate, or explain to the next tutor teacher . There is experience in honing the practice, but it would not have been if the theory had not been well mastered, so I can say that combining both of these crutial components works great, and if a question arises, I can not hesitate to ask on the spot.

Goals and objectives:

•  deeply focusing onto nursing care internal medicine with the ethical guidelines
• work with resource-oriented health promotion guidance 
• more practicing i.v. cannulation + infusion
• Blood Transfusion 
• ECG
• subcut. , i.v. ,  i.m. injections
• masters drag calculation; using Duodecim databas;  administer medication
• work with  Pegasos + Physiotools + Keski-Suomen Sairaanhoito Piiri (KSSHP)
• consider nursing internal medicine and cancer, and when encountering terminally ill or dying patients and their friends and family members
• identify the symptoms of internal medicine and cancer patients, make an accurate assessment and select appropriate nursing interventions
• Pt Care Plan, implement, assess and document treatment in cooperation with the patient and family members
• learn to address the lifestyle change and to support health promotion applying the resource-oriented approach
• learn to work in a multi-professional co-operation
• master ergonomically and aseptically correct ways of working
• assess and develop his or her skills in nursing internal medicine patients

Additionally I am very interested to have practice at  Dialysis Department

I have to be able to learn some new  lifehacks that will help me in the future job , and I will also strive to go through the points of my eMedical passport in order to observe the procedure at the beginning. and then try perform them independently , with an understanding of where the exact organ locates,  and what I can do to prevent a patient from suffering and treat him or her .

Ethical Skills and Professioni

Level of competency:

What concerns ethical skills and professionism , I tend to believe that I am able to act in professional interaction respecting individually and diversity.

 Nursing Legislation and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are strong rules for me. That means obligation of confidentiality , patient records , medication administration National law for the patient status and rights – all these factors are understood, considered and not subject to any dissemination on my part, as I understand that this is contrary to principles and rules.

From this statement follows what I can name the values of nursing care and ethical principles for nurses and I can act accordingly to them; how to interact in a dialog with both patients, collegues.

Goals and objectives:

Reaching the goals and objectives , I would probably like to understand more about the method of utilizing multiprofessional collaboration ( compare multi-disciplinary) as at this stage I cannot filly comprehend this point .

Clinical Skills

Level of competency:

I would like to add that after the first internship in which I was complitely involved in the process, I would like to continue this lead and and add new material and new techniques to my existing base. In order to get started, no matter what it concerns, I still need to follow some rules, basically it relates to working aseptically correct .I always wash my hands if they dirty , desinfect them before and after each patient and any action ( sometimes even during ) . Also may add that every time my ergonomics only improves and I am not any longer able to stand , sit etc as I used to . Going further , I am aware of the nursing process in internal medicine . Talking about interacting with people , I may say that I know how to communicate naturally and professionally with different people as I know that sometimes patients may feel nervous, anxious or even scared . Besides , I am able to measure and interpret patients’ vital signs , I have seen and tried those multiple times both at my fellow students and mannequins at school . Additionally, I know main examinations and tests used in internal medicine and comprehend reasons and purposes of them . Either , I am competent in patient safety that relates to the knowledge of using the ISBAR method , even I still have to practice it in order to perform better in the future. 

Goals and objectives:

I want to continue trying on my own (under supervision) to carry out the procedures, as well as hone those elements that I already know and tried to do. I would like to go through the list of the passport and see there are many checkboxes opposite what can be done in this practice. I especially want to focus on setting the dropper, continuing the study of medicines, as well as taking blood from their veins, because I get very upset when I can’t get into the vein (although everything went fine on skill labs) Moreover, I tend to suppose that I will have an opportunity to try also some methods and approaches which we have seen during this semester ( improve in cannulations , master accurate drug calculations ) Furthermore , having tried the ABCDE , ISBAR and NEWS score methods, I realized that I need to constantly keep them in mind and go step by step, sometimes returning to the previous (one) step , in order to check if the indicators have changed, and I want to practice this so that in the future I don’t have to always think about it. 

Teaching and guidance & Resource oriented health promotion guidance

Level of competency:

I suppose that at this step I can guide an internal medicine patient in English. I suppose that I during this internship I have to get used to hospital settings, know hoe to treat a patient and assist in patient guidance to nurses or do it on my own by using a translator or, as I did previously , pre-written phrases and words that may be needed to explain something, which helps a lot to memorize phrases.

Goals and objectives:

• I have to have more practice of  patient  intrviewing and guidance
• to know haw to do it polite and correctly
• I have to improve my communication skills and Finnish.

I would like to work on it and expand those limits which a competence-based approach can adequately represent complex professional work.
