{"id":864,"date":"2023-04-23T23:38:43","date_gmt":"2023-04-23T20:38:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogi.savonia.fi\/ingacheburkova\/?page_id=864"},"modified":"2024-12-09T14:57:33","modified_gmt":"2024-12-09T12:57:33","slug":"paediatric-internship-assignment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogi.savonia.fi\/ingacheburkova\/peadiatric-internship\/paediatric-internship-assignment\/","title":{"rendered":"Assignment"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Paediatric Internship Learning Task<\/h3>\n<p>For my Learning \u00a0task I have\u00a0chosen a 3-year-old boy, he is a new member in our Keltainenserkut group and he has a\u00a0speech\u00a0difficult &#8211;<u> stuttering.<\/u><\/p>\n<p>From my point of view this\u00a0case is quite informative, interesting \u00a0and good-to-know.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why I made this\u00a0choice.<\/strong> There are a complex of \u00a0important paediatric aspects in this case: physical and emotional wellbeing, ethics and legislation. Because, every one person has human rights get equal and good quality education services, i.e. the Finnish Law guarantees the human rights equally for everyone, even the smallest one &#8211; <u>Suomen Perustuslaki 731\/1999<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0My general targets:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>help him to get integration into new group comfortable, easy and stressless<\/li>\n<li>prevent in advance \u00a0he&#8217;s difficulties related to his speech stuttering<\/li>\n<li>prevent and avoid his difficulties in communicating with the group- mates<\/li>\n<li>make for him polite, positive and friendly integration by implementing the\u00a0different age-specific gams and activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Beforehand<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We (my tutor, me and group-colleagues), have arranged a meeting there we had been planing induction and integration plan for him. It was really new and interesting experience for me.<\/p>\n<p>By our discussion I suggested the suitable places, from my\u00a0point of view, \u00a0for his eating and sleeping, e.g. I suggested the &#8220;Koirat&#8221; mini-group for him. Because our Keltainenserkut group is divided onto 3 mini-groups: <em>Koirat, Puput ja Tiikerit.<\/em> Thus each one group is seating around they own table. Thus, there are sitting one more childcarer (lastenhoitaja) with &#8220;Koirat&#8221; mini-group.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, I recommended to use visual aids to communicate with him &#8211; <u>N\u00e4kyv\u00e4 Lasten Kortit &#8211; Eidetic\u00a0Memory Cards.<\/u> My mentor\u00a0has supported and confirm my idea. My tutor uses a set of Eidetic\u00a0Memory Cards that adapted especially for 3-year-old \u00a0children.<\/p>\n<p>This flashcards are one of effective study tool that can be great for preschoolers, child with\u00a0stuttering,\u00a0ADHD ect.<\/p>\n<p>This Eidetic\u00a0Memory Cards\u00a0develop his speech and communication by the visual signals. Thereby all of this build his confidence and help him in his integration.<\/p>\n<p>After that we had conversation with his\u00a0mother and provided her information and guidance, answered for her questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>During<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the first day I have printed plats wit his name and a small picture with dog, because it is easy remember and understandable for him. I shown him our rooms, WC, his slipping and eating \u00a0place.<\/p>\n<p>During the first day I have been explaining him step-by-step our day routines, helping him to remember the\u00a0names of \u00a0group-mates. And in same time I was helping our children to get easy friendship with him.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, on the one hand I was helping him and on the other hand I was helping the rest of the children to reach a well understanding each one.<\/p>\n<p>In order to understand which type of play he like and prefers I have been trying \u00a0to play with him many different games age-specific and activities.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, it was really good-to-know practice for me. Because there were various situations where I was applying \u00a0my theory knowledge about age-developing aspects, play-metods for his comfortable adapting and prevent any stress situation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interventions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a student-nurse I was using a couple nursing interventions that \u00a0to help him to integrate into our group effectively:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Speech:<\/em>\u00a0 work with the child&#8217;s parents and the kindergarten staff to explain them the speech\u00a0difficult &#8211;<u> stuttering\u00a0<\/u>aspects; \u00a0took into practice Eidetic\u00a0Memory Cards to improve his speech and communication.<\/li>\n<li><i>Social interactions &amp; Group-mate\u00a0modelling:<\/i>\u00a0with\u00a0collaborative games, I was motivating him and encouraging our group-mates\u00a0to engage to positive interaction and communication.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>After<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I was monitoring his daly activities and his emotional status. I was regularly assessing his progress towards, his\u00a0social and emotional needs, as well as their developmental level.<\/p>\n<p>With my colleagues \u00a0we were discussing and analysis how it is going and do we have to do any else.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My\u00a0Resources:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I used\u00a0evidence-based information especially from Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare &#8211; THL<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recommendations and Guidelines\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thl.fi\/en\/web\/thlfi-en\/research-and-development\/research-and-projects\/promoting-healthy-weight-in-children-promokids-ending-childhood-obesity-in-the-nordic-countries\/prevention-of-childhood-obesity-in-the-nordic-countries\/recommendations-and-guidelines\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">THL.fi<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Opens in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/julkaisut.valtioneuvosto.fi\/bitstream\/handle\/10024\/75405\/OKM21.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joy, play and doing together \u2013 Recommendations for physical activity in early childhood.<\/a>2016. Ministry of Education and Culture 2016:21.<\/li>\n<li>Tools: Activities for both kindergarten and schools &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/aktivitetskassen.no\/\">https:\/\/aktivitetskassen.no\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Opens in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/neuvokasperhe.fi\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Smart Family<\/a> provides information and tools for professionals for the lifestyle counselling<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Self-Evaluation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a result, he easily and without stress has integreted into new group; he has got excellent communication and friendship with classmates.<\/p>\n<p>And one more thing, that is more important for me, he has got more and more better speaking every day.
