Digitalization in home care
I am a registered nurse with very long work history. I graduated as a nurse 1992. I have worked in hospitals, health centers, old-age homes and home care. When I was young just graduated nurse we have patients records on paper. Now we have electronic patient information system. I have live all that change in my work history. Now I work as a nurse in home care at Äänekoski city. On this day we have electronic patient information system Lifecare in our mobilephones with home visits. We see patients health information on mobilephone and we can record with mobilephone. We use medicine robots lot on medication. We use medicine robots Smila and Axitare. Remote care do part of home visits with tablets. Nurse and patient have their own tablets. They see each other and can debate real time.
COVID period brought Teams meetings to healthcare. In future we will more use remote connections. Progressive remote care brings economic benefit in the situation when we have many patients, few nurses and little money. Future will bring more robots to health care. New digitalized innovations develops in our daily life and health care. I think at that is very interesting but also scary. Ethics must have keep up with develop.
Risks that digitalization may brings
Digitalization give us also risks. Data security and privacy are very inportant themes. Hackers are working hard to have our personal information. All people can not use digitalizited applications without help. Help is usually available but everybody can not reach it. For examble very old man try to use in internet KELA pages.
European Union´s GDPR brings me more privasy and rights to determine of my own personal data use. In my work GDPR brings we have to use patients data legally. Perhaps GDPR is arduous to use by nurses but it protect patients privasy.
Chat with Chat GPT
I asked Chat GPT questions about: What is homecare? What means chronically ill? What means acute ill? Answers come quickly. Answers not included much new to me because I am nurse and working in homecare. Answers was however clear ones and comprehensives. Chat GPT told that homecome refers to range of health and supportive services provided in a persons´s home, typically for individuals who are elderly, chronocally ill, recoverin from surgery, or disabled. Chat GPT was able to separate two main types of homecare: Medical homecare and Non-Medical homecare. Chat GPT told also who provides homecare and benefits of homecare. Chat GPT told well what is chronically ill and what is acute ill. Chat GPT was also able to compare those two. If someone who are not familiar with healtcare sector ask Chat GPT about her/his own things abot health or illneses woud be risk that she or he interpret information wrong. Artificial intelligensy is quite new arquaintance to me. I newly download Chat GPT. I think that I will in the future use artificial intelligency in my daily life sometimes. I think that artificial intelligency is good help but always there are chance that information is not scientific right.
Self-evaluation
The videos were very intersting. They gives me many thoughts. Privacy and information security worries me. Digitalization applies to everyone and is progressing quickly. In my very long nursing history there has been big digital leap. Articificial intelligence is quite new for me. Now I have Chat GPT to use on my mobile phone. It was very interesting to read other students experiences and thoughts about all this. I think I must orient carefully when I start using new digital application. How it works and what kind of data it collect.
