Firstly, I apply the ethical guidelines and legislation related to children\u2019s rights and paediatric nursing. The Paediatric internship has started well at the kindergarten (Paivakoti) age 4-5 which include a positive atmosphere. My first week began with introduction to the children, staffs, and the environment generally. I discussed with my mentor about aims and objectives for the next 5 weeks of the internship period. The goals and objectives for the paediatric internship week include the following: general introduction and nutrition, child growth and development, cooperation with the families and child\u2019s play activities and rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the first week of the internship practice, I study children\u2019s food routine, how they eat, and the likely medications taken after each meal. The children eat 3 times between 8:00am-16:00pm everyday at the kindergarten, every meal takes about 25 minutes or less depending on the child. The first meal starts at 8am (breakfast), the second meal begins at 11:20 (lunch), and the third meal start at 14:30 (snacks). There are different varieties of food for the children every day, the kids eat fruits with most of their meals and they drink milk regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The children were educated and encourage on the importance and benefits of food, drinks, and fruits daily. After each meal, all the kids take PASTILLE or a recommended medication from doctor for the kids. Pastille can be advised to persons of any age. The most essential ages for children to use pastilles are about one year old, when they are teething and 5-13 years when their permanent teeth are forming. Also, pastilles are especially good for parents with small children and anyone suffering from dry mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
