DIGI CITIZEN

KELA, OMAKANTA, KEVA

During the course, I got to know the electronic platforms of the Finnish Social Insurance Institution, through which you can apply for benefits, view your own health information or pension information once you have identified yourself. I do not have a mobile certificate in use, but use the Mobile Key to log in.

The last time I did business with the Finnish Social Insurance Institution was when I went to renew my allergy medicine prescription before leaving for a trip. At the same time, I went to read what the occupational health nurse and doctor had recorded about the Finnish Social Insurance Institution during the occupational health check. I was not previously aware that doctors hardly write printable sick leave certificates anymore, but that the sick leave certificate is electronic and can be printed or printed electronically from the Finnish Social Insurance Institution.

I rarely use the electronic services of the Finnish Social Insurance Institution. I last visited the website at the beginning of the year, when the medical care fee for a university student was calculated. As a working person, you are not entitled to Kela benefits, and I have not applied for these. When the children were sick, Kela paid me paternity allowance for the period of leave. OmaKela contains decisions and letters sent to me for about two years. The first and my family members have a European Health Insurance Card, which is issued by Kela.

A relative personal pension statement can be obtained from Keva’s website, which must include all public and private sector jobs, salaries received from these and benefits that accrue to the pension. You can use the pension calculator to calculate your own pension accumulation with higher income or by changing the pension start date. I am interested in the amount of my future pension and am calculating the amount of my pension with the appropriate version several times.

APPLICATION FROM MY WORK

I couldn’t find an application clearly aimed at the social sector, but I chose the Oma Kymenlaakso application. I hadn’t used it before, there was no need, because I live permanently in a different welfare area than the one I work in. I chose the application in question because work and day care customers use the application in question and I wanted to see how it works. My customers are people who may have difficulty using complex applications due to their own challenges. So out of curiosity, I wanted to see how the application works and what things can be done there.

The Oma Kymenlaakso service can be used with a mobile application or a web browser. You must identify yourself with your bank credentials or a mobile certificate. I logged in with a web browser and identified myself with my bank credentials. You can create a pin code in the application, which you will use to log in to the application in the future. You first had to check your own information in the service, after which you could proceed.

The service offered: health station chat, emergency help chat, oral health care chat, mental health and substance abuse service chat, clinic chat, physiotherapy chat and social care customer advice chat.

The service mainly offered healthcare-related services. Through the application, you could have a chat with a professional without making an appointment. Before this, you were asked to fill out a preliminary information questionnaire. I was left with the idea that the preliminary information questionnaire would direct you to the right professional. Through the service, it was also possible to participate in a video reception, which requires a camera and microphone on the device.

In the service, you could view your own transaction information and health information, fill out forms or surveys related to transactions or treatment. Your Kymenlaakso professional can open a guided treatment path that is right for your situation. In addition, open treatment paths and coaching programs are always available independently through the application. The service provides guidance to other important services, such as laboratory appointments, social welfare applications, the hoitopolut application, and OmaKantaa.

DIGITAL CAP

Increasingly, social and health services are moving to digital services, making customers’ information and online literacy skills crucial. The ability to utilize health-related advice, manage their own daily lives and well-being depends on the internet and digital skills, and not all customers have these skills or opportunities. There is a risk that some customers will not receive the services they need as a result.

The benefits and disadvantages of digitalization should be taken into account when designing services for different customer groups. I think that in already functioning digital services, customer advice, guidance and guidance are important. However, there are always customers who are unable to utilize digital services, in which case it would be important for them to receive the services they need through other means. There are ethical principles in the social and health sector that guide the work that is done. Ethical principles must also be taken into account when utilizing digitalization and technology, thus guaranteeing services based on human dignity for everyone. I believe that human dignity and justice mean that no one is left out of services.

DIGITAL COMPETENCE Digital test

I took the Digital Competence test. According to the test, my strongest skills are in information, security and communication skills. Production skills fell just below 50%, so there is a lot of room for improvement. My own wish would be that I would have the interest and motivation to meet your needs and be able to familiarize myself with and learn how to use various digital tools. Importantly at the beginning of the year in the CV tool, when I had to prepare a CV as an attachment to the job application and from the order that the CV turned out great. There is also room for improvement in information, security and communication skills.

SELF-ASSESSMENT

The assignment made me reflect on the digital services I use and also on my own behavior. I have gradually adopted various digital applications and noticed that after the initial challenges and learning how to use them, they are functional, convenient and often also time-saving. I notice that I am quite comfortable in many things and would like to know how to use applications right away, and not spend time learning them. I often notice that my lack of knowledge also hurts. However, I want to stay involved in development and adopt new tools and applications.

I hope that as a manager I can also encourage and motivate my own employees to try different digital solutions at work that could make work lighter and easier. Through the assignment, my understanding of digital possibilities grew and also gave me ideas for my own work and my thesis, which is related to the design of remote services. My interest and motivation grew to look for new applications and try digital solutions at work.

  1. Hi!
It was interesting to read about your experience of the Oma Kymenlaakso app. I was wondering if there were any settings to adjust the font size etc. or make the layout more simple. You mentioned the service mainly offered healthcare-related services. What do you think – what kind of social care services should be added first?

Writing about your development target – more motivation – was a very humane read regarding the digital competence test. Sometimes I’ve been pondering that would it be easy to somehow fall behind if one won’t be getting familiar with all the new applications regularly? But I think it’s okay also to start using the service when you truly need it, like you with the CV. Still most of us do need some inspiration now and then to start with something new. Great to hear, that this task gave a lot to you!
