KELA
I familiarized myself with the website of the National Pension Service (KELA). In my own life, I use KELA’s services very rarely in these days. I used kela’s services while I was on maternity leave and when I had my children. In my own work, of course, I deal with the KELA, because, for example, when employees get sick, KELA is involved.
My family doesn’t travel outside of Finland, so we do not need a European healthcare card. I’ve thought about getting it, if we travel outside of Finland.
KANTA
I loggeg in to oma KANTA by using my bank credentials. It was quite easy. I can see my recipes and other health information for a long time ago. Digitalization has been around for a long time.
PENSION
Second thing was my pension. My pension company is Varma. I can logg in by using my bank credentials or mobile certificate. In Finland, the amount of the pension is affected by work. Earnings and length of working career affect the amount of the pension. I checked how much I can get pension now, it isn’t very much yet. My lowest retirement age is 68 years and 2 months. I think that is very high age compare my own parents. If I retire 68years 2 month old I will get over 300 euros less than retire 70 years old.
DIGISHOPPING
I visited Temu’s and Shein’s online stores because of the negative attention they received. On these sites, expensive products in Finland are sold very cheaply. Advertising on shop pages is eye-catching. It’s like the sites read my mind. More products are constantly appearing on the websites, which I once looked for.
Background information on manufacturing materials or chemicals used is not available. Also there is no more detailed information about the place of manufacture. I have ordered products from these shops and I have especially noticed the chemical smells of the products. As a consumer, I would not order children’s clothes from those stores, because all the information which I need, is not available. For example, with regard to chemicals or raw materials. In my experience, orders arrive on time and contain the ordered products. However, I wouldn’t trust the products of those sites. They are not reliable, as I do not know their origin or manufacturing method or materials. I would also like to make sure when ordering products that they do not contain substances harmful to health, which is not mentioned on the websites of the companies in question. EU regulations do not apply in China.
HEALTHCARE APP
I chose the medicine tablet -application. With that application, it is possible to find out the appearance of the medicine divided into doses and the contents of the medicine bags with the help of a QR-code. With the help of the application, it is possible to check the correctness of the medication. In a nursing home, it is very important that information is quickly and reliably available, regardless of the time of day. In my experience, the app makes it easier to share and check medications and creates safety in medication treatment. This kind of apps are very useful digitization.
DIGITALIZATION AND PROPLEMS
I know many people who do not use digital services. For example, elderly people often don’t know how to use these services. In my experience, they get out of things because of this. In addition, their loved ones are burdened to handle their bank-, health- and other things by using digitalization, becouse it is not possible to take care of many things in the office these days. How about these elderly people who doesn’t have any close people…
I took a digital proficiency test. I noticed that I would have a lot to develop in relation to digital. In terms of knowledge, I’m at a good level, but I need to learn more about safety issues.
MY THINKING
I’ve noticed that digitalization in Finland has promoted the accessibility of citizens’ own information. I haven’t thought before that, due to digitalization, I currently receive information about myself regardless of the time of day.
Every Finn who is able to log in with strong identification to the sites, can get their own information in real time. On the other hand, I think there is also a risk here, because if someone gets access to my information via the internet, my own information is in a risk.
When you’re using different sites, you should be careful about security. For example, bank information should never be handed over to the wrong hands.
Online stores are trying to get customers. They offer cheap prices without telling you what’s behind it. Consumers should check their background before ordering, so that the products are certainly safe and ethically sustainable.

Hi Ritu!
I have very similar experiences and doubts about Chinese online-shops. For ethical reasons (at the moment :D), I have stopped using them, even though I get very interesting tips on sosial media..
It was nice to know about medicine tablet-application. I had never heard of such a service. This is something I will recommend to my relatives.

Hi! 🙂
A while ago I watched a MOT’s documentary on YLE about products made in China and I was shocked at what they contained. It was eye-opening. The documentary is about the Chinese online shop Shein, but Temu uses the same businesslogic. The documentary is still available on YLE Areena named ”Vaatteet myrkkytestissä”. Before watching the documentary, I managed to order a few small items from Chinese shops myself, but now I would never order anything from them again. I recommend watching the documentary and reading about the ethics of Chinese factories!

Hi!
It was interesting to read about your experiences with Chinese online stores. Personally, I’ve never bought anything from them, and I hope I won’t have to. Their advertisements appear on almost every website that has ad spaces 😀

Hei!
I agree that elderly people do not have access to digital services. They have no skills or online banking credentials. We also have a lot of elderly people who don’t have relatives to help them. Many things can remain undone precisely because they do not have the means for digital services. It is difficult to get information and manage things. For them, the social change has been great.
