DIGI SOCIETY
My experiences
My first touches with digitization are in upper secondary school in information technology classes. It was great to be able to use a computer and especially to play a worm game. Then, when the plane opened, we listened for a long time to the sound of the computer opening. It took years before my husband and I got our first joint cell phone. Before this, we had a Motorola portable phone on loan and it felt amazing even then. I remember how, when I was studying, I was happy about the electric typewriter and the correction tape in it 😉 At that point, you couldn’t even think about what the future would bring. In other words, during my lifetime, digitalization has progressed wildly.
I have worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years and I remember how in the beginning customer information was recorded on paper and customer/patient information was archived. If necessary, the customer’s information was searched in the archive. Little by little, computers came along and currently all information is recorded on the computer in the customer and patient information system. Remote work has also come into play. Previously, I could not have imagined that physical therapy could be carried out remotely. This is an area we are constantly developing. What services can be provided to customers also remotely and through which program can the customer be contacted. I myself am currently working as a front-line worker and with this I myself also work remotely every week and in that case an important factor is that the internet connections work. I use a laptop and a mobile phone. The flow of information with employees and colleagues works a lot via e-mail, teams and mobile phones.
In the future, operations must be further developed so that customers receive services in a timely manner, regardless of where they live. Digitalization can increase efficiency and monitor the quality of services better and more easily with the help of various tables. With the help of monitoring, services can be developed even better.
At the moment, it can already be seen that it is already creating challenges for some to be able to keep up with the current development. Of course, younger employees are already used to using various digital tools and programs, so I think it’s easier for them than for those during which technology has developed at a fast pace.
GDPR
I think the data security and data protection regulation is good. In this way, we all have certain guidelines according to which we can, for example, collect and store data in the systems. This also controls who, for example, can view the customer’s information.
In our organization, everyone must complete information security and data protection training, so that everyone is aware of how they are allowed to act at work. At work, we handle customer and patient data, and everyone must be aware of whose and what data we are allowed to view. Of course, access to information is limited according to the workplace we work at. It is also important to know how and to whom information can be disclosed. More than ever, you have to be careful that the correct customer’s information is entered and how identity is checked, for example at remote receptions.
In my personal life, this also means that when looking at my own patient data, I must log in to OmaKanta via personal identification. In working life, this means that I log into the patient information system with my own card. Log information is regularly monitored in the organization, which shows, for example, whether the wrong patients’ papers have been visited.
CHAT GP T
I logged into the CHAT GB T service and asked about the service:
What do therapy services mean?
I asked this question because physiotherapy services are generally referred to as therapy services these days. In the response of the intelligence service, physiotherapy was not mentioned as a single service at all, but only forms of therapy more related to psychotherapy were included.
As another question I asked; Rehabilitation after shoulder surgery?
The service was able to answer this question surprisingly well. The answer also included the different phases of rehabilitation and how the shoulder should be rehabilitated in different phases. However, it was not mentioned here that the operating doctor determines the length of the stages and this was not mentioned in the answer. Of course, it was said at the beginning that it was an overview.
Self evaluation
When getting to know the orientation material, I thought even more about what information can be sent via e-mail and whether more messages should be sent as encrypted e-mail. Through my own work, I have already had to familiarize myself with data protection issues and these were generally quite familiar issues. I myself have only recently become familiar with the CHAT GBT service during my studies and I am still quite critical about it. Through this work, I had to think a lot about the past as well as the future. I can’t even imagine what the future will bring.
