Final Evaluation

Final Evaluation

LEARNING SKILLS
In the beginning of the internship i came with an open mind to improve on what i have learnt from school and to embrace the learning skills of professionals in the working field.

ETHICAL COMPETENCE AND PROFESSIONALITY
I understand that every patient here in Niuva is unique and has to be respected in that way. I have also realized that no matter what a patient has done, their information is well respected and not used in the daily judgement of the patient but instead the ability of every patient willingness to be better is a measure of how they are been treated in the environment or ward.

WORKING SOCIETY COMPETENCE
I have worked and enjoyed working in this environment and the staffs has been cordial and helpful, for this i can say i have grown very well in this field of studies.

I have done my best to follow the working schedule and also tried to do so independently with the help of the each shift head and this has made my internship a success as well.

PATIENT-ORIENTED NURSING CARE
The patients has and its always my first concern and i have ensured to put their concern first before any other, also considering that every patient is different and has an individual need and as such must be treated as an individual.

EVIDENCE-BASED NURSING AND DECISION-MAKING
I have been able to make research on my own and also read couple of booklets here in the ward given to me by my mentor, also my mentor has explained holistically through the process of been in the anesthesia side or as an instrument nurse and this has helped me grow.

CLINICAL NURSING CARE
I can gladly say that my clinical skills has improved radically and this is a huge thanks to the staffs of the department and especially my mentors for their flexibility and willingness to let me try new things.

I have really improved in the distribution of medication and i think this has really boosted my confidence in the understanding and knowledge of most medication that are used in the tratment of mental health.

During this internship, i have also understood more about mental health and its treatment and seeing physically the different ways that each patient are been handled to boost their mental wellbeing, social wellbeing and physical wellbeing as well as cognitive therapy.

During this 5 weeks internship, my clinical skills in this field has been well motivated and enhanced.

Cultural Competence: In my realization, everyone during this period including both patient and staff, has treated each other with both respect, dignity and mutual understanding for a safe environment.

Multicultural competence: working with different healthcare staff has broaden my knowledge and the support and care that are rendered for each patient.

Goal to be achieved in my next internship.

in my next internship i do hope to work more in Finnish language and also communicate more and more with my mentors.

  1. FINAL EVALUATION
    Hey Kingsley,
Apologies for the delay. We have been a bit busy on the ward lately…
We told things quite extensively already in the midreview, so we do not have much to add.
You have reflected your learning very well at your final evaluation text. We think same way about your skills in different competences.
In your next internship, you could really use more finnish because you can do it And we hope that you “understand” that also students are part of work community and you can take part more courageously.
It was nice to meet you Kingsley and we wish you all the best. You will be a very good nurse.
    Your internship has been approved!

Thank you Kingley for your final evaluation text. The internship period is now over and you have learned a lot during the past five weeks. You have been able to take part in a variety of different learning situations. You have been able to practice, for example, working in a nurse-patient relationship with your own patient, you are familiar with the medical treatment of patients and you know how to recognize various symptoms and changes in the patients’ well-being. You also got an idea of multi-professional working at Niuvanniemi hospital and which are the most common cooperation parties in patient care. You now understand more clearly how legislation guides work in psychiatric wards.

I wish you a nice winter time and all the best for your future studies! 🙂
