My mentor nurses, where able to give me an understanding of the ward and what type of patience that we have in the ward. I was given advice on how to go about every patient in here (to know each patient personally before reading their files or documents), as this will help me understand each patient as a person instead of just looking at them as a patient.
I have been able to understand the ward protocol, especially its safety protocol and adherence. Also understanding how to take care of my own safety and inform the nurses on duty about my where about, as this wont make everyone wonder about my location.
I have been able to be assigned my own patient, and i have had 2 meeting already with my patient and we have started to build a reasonable ground fro different types of conversation.
I also have been in the medication room and my mentor nurse(s) has tried to explain the function and differences of the vital medications needed

Conclusion:
Thank you Kingsley for your reflections. It was nice to read about your internship weeks this far. There has been lots of different kind of learning situations and new things during your internship. I´m also glad to hear that you have been able to practice your nurse client relationship skills. Great!
Let´s talk more about all these themes tomorrow in our mid-evaluation meeting at zoom. 🙂

Midreview
First and foremost, Kingsley’s commitment to patient care was evident from the moment we saw him on the floor. He has approached each patient with empathy and respect, taking the time to listen to their concerns and provide reassurance. It was clear that he understands the importance of holistic care and the impact it has on a patient’s overall well-being.
Additionally, Kingsley has displayed a strong knowledge base and clinical competency. He has confidently performed various nursing tasks, such as administering medications. All while adhering to the hospital’s strict protocols and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
What stood out the most, however, is his willingness to learn and seek guidance from experienced nurses and mentors. Kingsley asks thoughtful questions and is actively engaged in discussions about patient care, demonstrating a genuine eagerness to expand his knowledge and skills.
During the end of the internship Kingsley could for example get more involved in the multi professionalism of the ward (as he himself has reflected) and continue his good working with his own patient and to deepen knowledge of what an experienced nurse does in the ward (for example “lääkärinkierrot” and
personnel responsibility).
In the end, need to say that also our patients like Kingsley and feel that he’s reliable nurse 🙂
