week <\/strong>5<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LEARNING SKILLS<\/em><\/strong>
In the beginning of the internship i came with an open mind to improve on what i have learnt from school and to embrace the learning skills of other professionals in the working field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ETHICAL COMPETENCE AND PROFESSIONALITY<\/em><\/strong>
I understand that every patient here in the service home is unique, different and has to be respected in that way. I also realized that the needs for for each client is different and time is important to be considered in the daily care and attention of each client. irrespective of the situation and condition the client rights must respected, also explaining whatever that is going on to the client is also important even if we might think it is not important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WORKING SOCIETY COMPETENCE<\/em><\/strong>
Working in this environment has come with its own challenges, as i have noticed that most people\/colleagues here prefer to have discussions about the student behind their back, which i do feel its not professional, as this doesn’t make the student feel welcomed. I have done my best to follow the working schedule that i created,as there have been misunderstanding in my work shift between i and my mentor. I think an open environment should be created to allow both student and staff members discuss openly irrespective of whatever barrier that might be there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PATIENT-ORIENTED NURSING CARE<\/em><\/strong>
The patients has and its always my first concern and i have ensured to put their concern first before any other, also considering that every patient is different and has an individual need and as such must be treated as an individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EVIDENCE-BASED NURSING AND DECISION-MAKING<\/em><\/strong>
I have been able to make research on my own and also read couple of booklets on how to improve the daily livelihood of gerontological patient. this has enabled me work independently as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CLINICAL NURSING CARE<\/em><\/strong>
I can gladly say that my clinical skills has improved radically and this is due to the help i have gotten from my second mentor and her flexibility and willingness to let me try new things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have really improved in the distribution of medication and i think this has really boosted my confidence in the understanding and knowledge of most medication that are used in the treatment of gerontological patient\/client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this internship, i have also understood more about mental health, dementia, RIA, MNA and other illness that maybe associated with elderly people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this 5 weeks internship, my clinical skills in this field has been well motivated and enhanced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cultural Competence<\/strong>: In my realization, i do not think everyone i do not think that both patient and staff, has treated each other with both respect, dignity and mutual understanding for a safe environment and i think this can be improved in the work place, so it does not become a toxic environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multicultural competence<\/strong>: working with different healthcare staff has broaden my knowledge and the support and care that are rendered for each patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goal to be achieved in my next internship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my next internship i will be practicing or using more of my of Finnish language and also communicate more and more with my mentors and also seek to have an open, honest conversation from the beginning of my internship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
