The things i did during my first week of internship are :<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Getting to understand the ward and its protocols .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Accessing patients information and understanding the different diseases associated with the patients .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Assisting in NEWS information update for the patients and medication distribution<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Description :<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My tutor nurse and I was with different clients to assess them and take care of them and I was also asked to do the same as was done by the tutor nurse and I was allowed to take some little responsibilies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Feeling :<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While i was with the patient i felt confident and felt empathy for the client ,I was worried about the language barrier and how to communicate with the patients. However having received theory classes on medical nursing ,i had to implement it and tried to communicate and take my time with the patient, as my tutor nurses were patient and really helpful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Evaluation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On evaluation , my tutor Nurse was with me and said it was a good one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Analysis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
on my reflection while we were with the patient i was able to interact with the patient also being able to carry them along ,informing them on what i was doing made me to gain confidence in myself and reflect as a nurse that while practicing i need to always go back to my book to keep me informed and updated as well as doing the right thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
my conclusion is that if I find myself in that situation again i will handle it much better than i did, taking note of what my tutor nurse said and also remembering the positive comment will help build my confidence in caring out the plan .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Action plan:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My action plan in the future is that I will be away to take on more responsibilities with the monitoring of my tutor nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Insertion of IV line<\/p>\n\n\n\n Giving patients medication<\/p>\n\n\n\n Assisting in biopsy <\/p>\n\n\n\n administration of medication<\/p>\n\n\n\n Documentation on Ariel and Medanet<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Description:<\/p>\n\n\n\n learnt how to put IV line with the help of mentor nurse and understanding the different method involved in this process aseptically. assisting the doctors in the collection of biopsy from different patients. distribution and cross-checking of medication for several patients, to ensure that each of them has the right medication that has been prescribed by the doctor. i have fully began to document the activities of different patient in the ward and also documentation of their physically wellbeing<\/p>\n\n\n\n Feeling:<\/p>\n\n\n\n This has broaden my horoscope in the cannulation and also understood the concept of biopsy taking. also i have felt the essence of been careful and double checking in medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Evaluation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n during my evaluation ,my tutor nurse encouraged me to take time to when handling patients medication (by always double checking), include patients in the there daily routine and also be confident in myself .<\/p>\n\n\n\n ANALYSIS :<\/p>\n\n\n\n Before i carry out my work description i always try to plan on how to make it a success ,this allows the patients to be clam .<\/p>\n\n\n\n Conclusion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n my conclusion is to concentrate on my patients skin, feelings when attending to them and also be very careful and be patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Action:<\/p>\n\n\n\n my action plan is that i will take more step in cannulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Week 4<\/p>\n\n\n\n week 4 was about working independently on my own and nurses own time with patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Medication giving<\/p>\n\n\n\n nightly routine check up<\/p>\n\n\n\n Description<\/p>\n\n\n\n working\u00a0 independently with the patients on my own ,doing morning routines such as NEWS and weight check, raportti and medication handout. i was instructed to carry out this plan by my tutor nurse .<\/p>\n\n\n\n Feelings :<\/p>\n\n\n\n Carry out my morning routine on my own wasn\u2019t difficult and something i would like to do more often<\/p>\n\n\n\n Evaluation :<\/p>\n\n\n\n my tutor nurse came in to check if everything was going on well with me and also asking patients if they where also OK. and after wards i have to evaluate their situation and give my tutor nurse\u00a0 feedback of situation such as what was\u00a0 wrong the patient and as a student nurse what do i think is the cause and how do we help the patient and my tutor was really pleased with me and gave more advice and idea on the patients situation .<\/p>\n\n\n\n Analysis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n I feel and think that the patients allowing me to carry out this plan means that they trust me to it successfully therefore allowing me to gain more knowledge and confidence as a student nurse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Conclusion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n my conclusion to my week 4 activities would be that practicing more will allow me to be perfect and allowing me to think of other means or ways to carry out the plan quick and in a safe manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Action:<\/p>\n\n\n\n My action plan will be to get more knowledge and to keep myself up to date to enable me carry out the plan successfully and for me to be able to inform the patients about the procedure and it benefits and side effects .<\/p>\n\n\n\n Week 5<\/p>\n\n\n\n worked independently and also assisting other health care workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Description:<\/p>\n\n\n\n worked independently on my own doing the daily routines morning and afternoon and practicing the nursing clinical skills and also getting to know the patients at this point makes it easy for me to carry out the nursing plan effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Feeling :<\/p>\n\n\n\n carrying out my nursing skills independently made me happy with myself and also boosting my confidence and made me to realize that my tutor nurse and other staff trust me in completing my duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Evaluation :<\/p>\n\n\n\n carry out this plan and working independently with my tutor nurse supervision and support allows me to practice the clinical skills with confidence and able to carry it out successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Action:<\/p>\n\n\n\n TO CONTINUE TO PRACTICE MORE IN Goal to be achieved in my next internship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Is for me to practicalize my documentation skills in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Clinical skills:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Having achieved some basic nursing care clinical skills and now my medical nursing, this has allowed me work more effectively and confidently as a nursing student , having learned the clinical skills in theory and practicing on manikins in school and during the internship am faced with the real life situations helps me to understand better what i have being taught. hence allowing me to achieve some of my goals ,and those which i was not able to practice i hope to do them in my next internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Having learned to guide\u00a0 patient with cancer treatment and different medications and also observing how different chemotherapy method works.
