MY EXPERIENCE OF THE DIGITALIZATION AND MY FUTURE IDEAS. HOW DIGITALIZATION WILL CHANGE LIFE AND WORK IN THE FUTURE?

I`m working in a digital focused unit in the polytechnic sector. Our digital business focuses on developing digital environments, promoting innovation, and for example how artificial intelligence can be utilized in business. But right now I`m working as an expert on a work ability management project.

Earlier I have worked on projects related to entrepreneurship and promoting innovation. The goal has been to generate new ideas, innovations and companies in our region. In the project world, it is great that the job description is so diverse and there is the opportunity to learn new things all the time.

The education sector underwent a major transformation five years ago when all training and coaching was moved online, and I think the transition went pretty well. Before the pandemic, live groups were very popular, but suddenly we had to learn to do everything digitally.

Remote work is here to stay. Personally, I am not a fan of remote work, I try to be present as much as possible. It is difficult to innovate remotely via Teams and, as mentioned in the materials, mobile workers are much less innovative than those who are at the office. Great ideas rarely happen alone (Office of Today, Workplace of Tomorrow). I completely agree and it is very tangible in my own work.

I also enjoy meeting my colleagues and discuss with them. In our office, you can also hear laughter, which also brings positive energy to the entire work community. That would be completely missing if I worked completely remotely.

Actually, everything is happening completely digitally at the moment. Artificial intelligence will be used to the routine works, it’s a bit like an assistant. It’s a great couching partner and usually gives me pretty good ideas. It thinks things over for me and then I can focus on more important things. The same situation is with the studies, most of which are done remotely. I`m quite sure, that AI will also further challenge the education sector and teaching.

James Lyne spoke about cybercrime and nothing has gotten better in 12 years. You should think very carefully about what you put online because everything stays there. All the information we produce online through our own activities, for example cookie data, leaves information about us. In addition, we leave a trace of which websites we have visited.

I recommend taking the Citizen Cybersecurity course offered by the University of Jyväskylä. It is a very instructive course on how digitality affects our everyday lives. Hacking, various malware and phishing are everyday occurrences and they challenge each of us. Internet of Things is also something that everyone not understand. For example, how a robot vacuum cleaner builds an image of a house and at the same time detects the people there.

GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) refers to the European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation, which obliges companies, organizations and communities to protect users personal data responsibly and transparently. Individuals have control over their personal data. Organizations must clearly state why data is collected and how it is processed. Personal data refers to, for example, name and email address.

In our organisation every employee must be familiar with and manage the data protection regulations and risks related to their job. In our organization, the data protection officer is responsible for monitoring, providing guidance and developing the organization’s data protection issues. In addition, compliance with data protection legislation is monitored by performing internal controls, audits, guidance and supervision. I´m working on an EU project, so the data protection statement must also be available on the websites of all EU projects.

CHAT GPT

From a service marketing perspective, I have asked Chat GPT, for example, how to attract people to free coaching sessions and trainings. In addition, we wrote a large innovation publication together with colleagues and thinking of a name is always so difficult, so I also asked Chat GPT’s opinion on it. My colleague asked AI to also produce an image for the publication. In addition, I have utilized AI as an idea partner in content production.

The answers have been surprisingly good and comprehensive. But you have to be careful with artificial intelligence, because you can’t completely trust it, meaning the answers can also be wrong or it can misunderstand the context.

I wasn’t satisfied with the way the images were produced, but of course it also depends a lot on what you ask of it and what keywords you use.

However, artificial intelligence is a great and versatile assistant overall. It is a great friend, for example, in content production and new idea generation. It often comes up with much better ideas than you or your colleagues. It also gives you a lot of different options, which you can then edit yourself. But the information is not always correct, so you have to be careful about that. I am also thinking about the role of marketing agencies in the future, as even now, for example, artificial intelligence produces text and images really well for social media marketing.

SELF EVALUATION

The digital operating environment is developing very quickly and we have to keep up with the changes.

In our organization, a large part of the functions and systems already work digitally. For example, a chatbot provides monthly project financial information, customer data has been digitalized, the use of artificial intelligence is becoming stronger all the time and, fortunately, it also makes our own work much easier. But as I mentioned earlier, you cannot completely trust the information produced by artificial intelligence. Digitality therefore brings a lot of good things with it, but it is good for the user to be critically cautious.

The theme has been interesting and educational. Sometimes it’s good to take a moment to reflect on the changes digital technology has brought to our lives and how they affect our everyday lives.
