KELA, What services do I use? What about my family?
I familiarized myself with the benefits of KELA. I receive disability allowance for a child under 16 years of age. My family does not receive any other benefits.
I applied for a European Health Insurance Card on the KELA website, because I didn’t have one. This will be useful for me when I travel to another EU or EEA country, Switzerland, the UK or Northern Ireland. With the European Health Insurance Card, I can receive medically necessary healthcare. I think it’s a good thing. 🙂
OmaKanta provides access to your own health care data. How did I log in to OmaKanta?
I went to Google on my laptop and entered the search term “OmaKanta”. The site then redirected me to log in to OmaKanta. I selected it and proceeded to authenticate myself using my bank credentials. I entered my username in the authentication service, after which I had to select “Confirm with mobile key”. I did this on my phone and confirmed the mobile key. After that, the website displayed “Personal Customer’s Kanta Services” and then information that the following information will be transmitted about me during authentication.
Keva
How much pension I will get if I retire at 63 years, or 68 years (Keva)?
I checked on Keva’s website how much pension I will get if I retire at the age of 68. According to the pension calculator, my pension will be 2070, 44 per month.
Visit e.g. digital shops like eBay, Amazon, Booking.com, Trivago and evaluate the prizes to local shop prices, and information adequacy to the consumer. Is the chosen service reliable?
I looked at the prices on eBay.I checked the prices of luxury items like the Louis Vuitton Boston bag Speedy. The bag cost 246.70 EUR on the website and was on sale for 5% off and free shipping to Finland. Next, I went to the Louis Vuitton store in downtown Helsinki to see how much the bag cost.I couldn’t find the exact same bag in the store, but similar bags were priced starting at 1700 euros.I was skeptical about the authenticity of the bag because the price on eBay was so much lower than I expected.
Next, I visited the Amazon website. I was curious about the price difference between Garmin watches in sports stores and online, so I did some research. I discovered that the Garmin Forerunner 55 GPS Running Smartwatch, Black was available for 172,69 EUR.The total cost of the product was 234,97 EUR. The price was raised shipping costs and import fees deposit. Then I went to see how much the same watch cost at the XXL store in Tammisto Vantaa, the watch cost 139 EUR. So, it would make more sense to buy the watch in person rather than ordering it online.I went to ebooking.com to see how much it cost trip to Paris ans the cheapest three-star hotel is 373 euros for four nights and the round-trip flights are 371 euros, with a layover. The total cost of the trip would be 744 euros. After that, I checked how much the trip would cost with Aurinkomatkat through customer service, since travel agencies no longer exist. The trip with Aurinkomatkat with the same criteria costs 650 euros.I thought Booking.com would be cheaper, but it wasn’t this time. I think it’s really important to compare prices. Online stores aren’t always the cheapest option. At the same time, I started wondering if all products are always genuine brands when the price difference is significant.
An Application from My Field: Why I Chose It and My User Experiences
I chose the Maisa app. In my field, I have found the Maisa app to be extremely valuable and useful. When hospitalized and their condition permits, patients can manage their own social and healthcare matters using the Maisa customer portal mobile app during their treatment period. Through the Maisa portal, patients can ask for professional advice or submit a contact request, view and complete social and healthcare information, view test results, and book and cancel appointments. My own and my patients’ experiences with the app have been nothing but positive, as it can be used anytime. It also saves time and money.
What are the risks and challenges for those people, who do not use virtual services?
Risks and challenges are faced by those who are primarily outside of virtual services, mainly the elderly, as many are still accustomed to using services in person at offices and service points. The risk then lies in being left outside of services when the necessary digital devices or skills to use them are not available.
The Digital Competence Wheel:
What did you learn from these assignments?
Through these assignments, I gained a deeper understanding of the many benefits and services that Kela offers. While my blog post focused on the benefits that my family or I receive, I also delved into the wider range of benefits and services that Kela provides as a whole. During the course, I obtained a European Health Insurance Card, which I didn’t even know existed for some reason. The fact that the European Health Insurance Card entitles you to necessary healthcare in EU countries, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Iceland will certainly be useful for me as well as my adult children. I also read more about the card on Kela’s website during the course. The card is available free of charge from Kela.
Accessing the Oma Kanta website was very clear and familiar to me. I follow it quite actively and monitor my own health information, such as laboratory results, prescriptions written by doctors, and medical records. I also follow the same things on Oma Kanta for my minor son. I found the task of estimating my pension on the Kela website to be very useful. The website was easy to use and well-structured. The challenge in calculating my pension was that the website showed that I am estimated not to be able to retire at 63, so I was not able to calculate my pension. Therefore, I calculated how much pension I would receive at 68. I had never calculated my pension before, which I may be paid in the future. This is also something that is good to think about for the future.
The task of comparing prices and reliability in online stores and local stores showed me what I had already thought. These days, I rarely go to physical stores anymore, and probably due to the economic crisis in society, I pay very close attention to where I buy what I buy, compare prices, and consider very carefully whether there is a need for the purchase. When comparing prices in online stores and local stores, I was a bit skeptical whether all product prices in online stores were accurate. Comparing different websites, I also noticed how some websites were unnecessarily complicated and confusing in terms of usability.
The task of finding a service or application from my field, justifying the basis for my choice, and describing my user experience, I celected Maisa. Maisa is a customer and patient record system and a joint social and healthcare customer portal for HUS Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital Districts that use Apotti. I would choose Maisa as the application to present in my assignment because I have received only positive feedback from both myself and the patients I have treated. In Maisa, you can make appointments, view upcoming events, such as doctor’s appointments, and prepare for upcoming appointments, such as with a doctor or social worker. In Maisa, you can respond to various questionnaires and view research results, such as laboratory and imaging results, regardless of time and place. In addition to all of this, you can apply for social services and view social services decisions that have been made. You can communicate with professionals who are treating you or your case. In addition, it is possible to participate in remote appointments via video.
I read several blogs written by different students, from which I have mentioned the articles I selected earlier. I paid attention to how many different ways blogs have been created and made. I found the articles I selected interesting because, although our viewpoints were the same based on the articles in the study, there were also things that I had not paid as much attention to or had not thought about from the same perspective. You can really learn a lot from others.
The Digital Competence Wheel
The purpose of the Digital Competence Wheel is to provide an overview of digital competences and to offer concrete tools for improving and developing these skills. My results on the Digital Competence Wheel were:
Information: 79%
Communication:78%
Production: 78%
Safety: 81%
Digital competence is a combination of knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to the use of technology.
With the help of technology, people can:
-Perform tasks
-Solve problems
-Communicate
-Manage information
-Collaborate
-Create and share content effectively, appropriately, securely, critically, creatively, independently, and ethically.
During the task, I noticed that the digital competence wheel did not provide immediate results, which was a challenge for me. At first, I wondered if there was something wrong with my skills and ran the test several times. However, despite multiple attempts, I did not get any results. So I sent a message to info.mapus.io My results largely matched my expectations.
Through these assignments , I learned and gained valuable new knowledge.I have been working as a nurse for almost fifteen years and have seen how digitalization has changed my everyday life considerably during my work history. Of course, digitalization is also visible in everyday life. I feel that my digital skills and their development are still necessary. However, digital skills are so broad-based that through these tasks I realized that my skills still need to be further developed, and I am motivated to do so.
