I work in B2B sales at a company that wholesales building materials. I use some digital platforms in my work because they make work and information search easier.
LinkedIn is a social network for the business community. I use LinkedIn every day, because it is a good tool for networking and following trends in your field. It is also a good way to keep in touch with former colleagues. It can be used to make public posts or send private messages.
I use a WhatsApp a lot and it is a good application for exchanging short messages. We have own group with our colleagues where information is easily available to everyone. It makes easy to communicate simple things to customers, such as notification of the arrival of an order.
YouTube
One thing I occasionally use is video sharing platform YouTube. Many companies have a YouTube channel, and it is one way to spread information. Companies publish there presentations of their new products as well as instructions on how to use the products. Usually, YouTube links are shared via LinkedIn or email newsletters.
Teams
I use Teams for meetings and webinars. The use of Teams was more common during Covid-19. Now the meetings are held face-to-face, which I think is easier. I participate various webinars through Teams.
I choose the following five applications that I could use in my work.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT could be a good tool for searching for information. It should be noted that the free version information may be outdated.
X
I have been using X (former Twitter) for a long time, but I only have it for private use. Many companies have X account and with that I could follow the trends in the industry.
I also have Instagram in private use. Many companies have an account there too, but maybe Instagram is more of an entertainment app where marketing is aimed at consumers, not B2B.
Doodle
There are many apps on the list that I haven´t heard before and Doodle is one of them. It seems like a good app for creating schedules for groups. It also can be used to create surveys, which is a good feature.
Slack
Slack is real-time communication and collaboration app. It could be a good for small group, like your own team, messaging, and file sharing.
SELF-EVALUATION
It was surprising to notice how many tools there are on the market that can be used at work. There are many new applications that I could use in my work or replace existing one. I have noticed that it is no good if there are too many communication applications. In the middle of a rush it feels like information is coming from too many channels.
