Using Social Media Tools in Daily Work 

Digital tools and social media have changed how people interact, collaborate, communicate, and share their ideas. These solutions have made easy and faster communications in customer service and business development, the fields that I used to work, before moving to Finland. when I was working at Kerman Chamber of Commerce, for doing my tasks including organizing events, interacting with chamber members, and dealing with challenges I used several digital tools and social media. 

In this article, I would like to explain how five new digital tools including Miro, Doodle, Todoist, Skype, and Slack could be used in my everyday tasks. I will also review social media’s advantages and disadvantages and discuss why I have selected these tools and assess what makes a good digital tool. Lastly, I will share you myself evaluation. 

My Job at the Kerman Chamber of Commerce and Digital Tool Use 

Before moving to Finland, I was working in the field of business development and customer service At Kerman Chamber of Commerce, my duties were: 

  • Communicating with chamber members 
  • Managing trade events and delegations 
  • Supporting members develop their businesses 
  • Preparing reports and presentations 
  • Promoting local trade  

For doing above tasks effectively, I was using tools including email, Excel, PowerPoint, telegram and WhatsApp. These digital tools helped me for organizing time, interacting clearly, and planning events. But I think I had some challenges. By using Miro, Doodle, Todoist, Skype, and Slack, I believe that I could make the work better. 

Five New Tools and How I Could Use Them in My Work 

1. Miro  
Miro is an online whiteboard for teamwork, with this digital tool, teammates can online write, plan and draw together. 

How I could use it the workplace: 
At the Chamber, with Miro teams can plan together for trade delegations and business meetings. Miro could be helpful for our brainstorming, managing event layouts, and having team ideas in one platform. It would also make more interactive our online meetings. 

Benefits of using Miro: 

  • It is a fun and visual tool for working together 
  • It is an opportunity for remote teams 
  • It is easy to share and update ideas 

challenges of using Miro: 

  • It needs internet access 
  • Maybe teammates find it confusing at first 

2. Doodle  
Doodle can be used for easy scheduling. This digital tool helps people choose best meeting time without sending several emails. 

How I could use it the workplace: 

I could use this digital tool for arranging meetings with busy businesspeople and officials. Doodle helps individual save time and coordinate with businesspeople in different time zones, particularly for international collaborations. 

Benefits of using Doodle: 

  • It is easy to use. 
  • It helps Save time. 
  • It helps avoid scheduling conflicts. 

challenges of using Doodle: 

  • It is not free of charge. 
  • Some people may be reluctant to use it. 

3. Todoist  
Todoist is a good digital tool to make lists and track tasks. 

How I could use it the workplace: 
I could use this digital tool because of variety of responsibilities including answering to requests, preparing reports, organizing events and following up with businesspeople. Todoist would support me manage all above-mentioned tasks in one place, notice me by reminders, and I would ensure I meet all deadlines. 

Benefits of using Todoist: 

  • Todoist application Helps us manage our time and tasks 
  • Todoist work on both phones and computers 
  • Working with Todoist is simple and flexible

  • Todoist Needs continuously checking 
  • Some features of todoist may take time to learn 

4. Skype 
Skype is an application and used for connecting teams and partners by video calls, voice calls, and messaging. 

How I could use it: 
Skype could be useful for meetings with partners from other cities or countries. Chambers could use it to connect with other organizations, international businesspeople, other chambers of commerce, attend online international exhibitions, and local and international negotiation without traveling. 

Benefits of using Skype: 

  • Skype is Known by many people. 
  • Skype is very Good for video and voice calls. 
  • You can easily screen sharing. 

challenges of using Skype: 

  • Sometimes the quality of sound or video is poor.   

5. Slack  

Slack is a messaging application that is designed for teams to interact and collaborate in real-time. 

How I used it:  

Slack can be useful for staying in touch with chamber members and teammates at the Kerman Chamber. we can create different channels for trade delegation organizing, updating customer service, and internal news. It can help share documents fast and be able to update and send message in one place. 

Benefits of using Slack: 

  • communications are organized, responses are fast, file sharing is easy. 

challenges of using Slack: 

  • Slack Can become noisy with too many channels. 
  • It doesn’t work offline. 

Social Media in the Workplace: Positives and Negatives 

Benefits of Social Media: 

  • Communication is faster: digital Tools like Skype help fast decision-making. 
  • Time is saved more: Apps like Doodle and Todoist help us save time. 
  • Teamwork is developed: some applications like Miro help creativity and teamwork, even from different places. 
  • Supports remote work: Tools help us work from home or other cities. 

Challanges of Social Media: 

  • Privacy Risks: private information should be used If not used carefully, if not, they can be shared. 
  • Information Overload: Too many messages or notifications can lead to stress and mindset problem. 
  • Distractions: Social media can decrease focuses on workplace. 
  • Tech Issues: poor internet or app errors can cause delay at work. 

What Makes a Digital Tool Successful? 

A digital tool can be helpful if it has these factors: 

  1. Easy to Use: Anyone can learn and start to use it. 
  1. Secure: It protects personal and organization information. 
  1. Accessible: It can work on smartphones, laptops, and computers. 
  1. Compatible: It can be connected with other tools such as calendars or emails. 
  1. Support and Training: Users can receive support and guides when needed. 

Why I Chose These Five Tools 

Every of these 5 digital tools, helps a different part of responsibilities: 

  • Miro helps for online planning and brainstorming. 
  • Doodle helps for scheduling meetings easily. 
  • Todoist helps organize tasks and time. 
  • Skype helps communication with international businesspeople and organizations. 
  • Slack supports organized communications, fast responses, and easy file sharing. 

These five digital tools, support planning, communication, managing, and networking, that are very important for daily works in the chamber. 

Self-Evaluation 

Writing this article, helped me to think better about how tasks in chambers can be done more effectively by digital tools and social networks in a new way. I now understand the need to be careful with privacy and avoid for distractions. 

Now, using these tools and explaining them to others makes me feel more comfortable. I am now more interested to experiment with new tools in the future and teach my teammates how to use them more effectively.
