I am currently on study leave from my duties as a medical laboratory tecnologist. While studying, I have become familiar with the Moodle learning environment, Outlook email and the Savonia- website.
I work as a medical laboratory tecnologist in a health centre laboratory. My duties include customer service at various stages of laboratory testing, such as sampling, patient guidance and appointment booking. In my work, I use the Multilab laboratory system, an appointment booking system, and the organization’s own itranet, where I can find the instructions needed for the job. For communication between different workstations in our organization, we use Microsoft Teams and email. Teams has made it easier to communicate and organize meetings and distribute bulletins to different channels. Sometimes there are plenty of bulletins, so it is difficult to keep up with the bulletins.
Hangouts
Hangouts is a communication and collaboration tool and can be utilized in a variety of ways in a work environment. It allows you to organize teamwork and virtual meetings, as well as share information and keep in touch with colleagues within the work community or remotely. This allows for fast communication between employees, as it can be used for quick questions and file sharing. Hangouts also allows for various video conferencing and trainings, where you can share on-screen material. This tool I chose therefore, revenge information and communication are an eternal problem in the workplace.
Miro
Miro could be suitable to support innovation in the organization. This program would have the opportunity to invite members of the work community to participate in the ideation of new things. This would allow you to schedule unfinished projects, where you can track the progress of the project, set goals and share different tasks. Miro offers a diverse work environment with the potential to enhance collaboration, ideation and innovation in the work community.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT is a discussion-based information retrieval and query tool based on artificial intelligence. Due to its versatility, it can be used in different workplaces for information retrieval and problem solving by asking questions, thus quickly obtaining information on the subject. It can help you get directions, present ideas to it, and get back different perspectives that could help you brainstorm different tasks and projects. In customer service work, I could think of using it to sort out unclear concepts and translate foreign words, for example. However, it is necessary to remember to evaluate the answers provided by ChatGPT, as the information may be limited, inaccurate and incomplete. ChatGPT can be a useful tool in the laboratory for quick access to information but is not a substitute for human expertise and experience.
WhatsApp is a popular instant messaging app and I use it in my free time. It is not used in my workplace. It is used for sending messages, images, videos and voice messages, as well as for group chat on smartphones. WhatsApp could be used in my work to communicate, share information, and coordinate tasks. This is convenient, fast, and easy to use, but you also need to consider security and privacy risks when using WhatsApp.
YouTube
YouTube is a popular video application platform that can be utilized in a variety of ways. It can be used for a variety of learning purposes, instruction, demonstration, presentation and sharing of information, expert interviews, and recording of training events. It is easy to use and offers a wide range of videos on a variety of topics, including music, entertainment, education and news. At my place of work, you could use YouTube to watch recordings of training events. Each employee would have the opportunity to visit the training afterwards at a time convenient for them.
Successful use of a digital application
When using digital applications, one must remember to check their security and privacy policies, as well as the security policies of work organizations. It is necessary to understand what information can be shared and what is confidential. One must be able to assess the reliability and accuracy of the information. Harmful digital content must be reported to the administrator without delay, as it can spread quickly and cause damage. In addition, reacting as quickly as possible will help administrators start taking the necessary steps to promote security and trust. An easy-to-use application increases job satisfaction and willingness to use. On-the-job training ensures that all staff master the digital skills.
Self evaluation
There were a lot of interesting things about this assignment. In the past, I have used social media tools and a few other digital platforms outside of work. I got new perspectives on new different digital tools that I could possibly use in the future. I was quite surprised by the large number of digital applications. There must be some really good and necessary applications among these for different uses. Sufficient time must be set aside for training and guidance to learn how to use the application. This lowers the usage threshold and provides maximum efficiency and financial benefit to the organization using the application. I think I took a big leap into the digital world.
