MY CURRENT JOB AND USE OF DIGITAL TOOLS

I work as a Service Manager in a small company. The company offers a service concept based on high technology and extensive testing, where a doctor is brought to where basic healthcare and guidance for treatment and research are needed through a secure remote connection. The service is based on advanced remote examination equipment and a new type of teamwork between a trained Dicure remote doctor and a nurse who meets the patient on-site. Our remote examination equipment includes digital stethoscopes, otoscopes, and various examination cameras. We provide tailored services to welfare regions and recruit doctors interested in this new working method.

Personally, I am responsible for the design, construction, and implementation process of remote reception points.

I work entirely remotely, so everything happens digitally, except for regular phone calls. We use the M365 cloud working environment. Specifically, I use Teams daily. Within the company, we communicate through the Teams messaging service, and all meetings and conferences are held in Teams via video calls. Files are stored in the OneDrive service, making them accessible in different applications.

I also handle marketing for the company, which involves making updates and building content in various applications. It’s been interesting to make marketing updates on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. These applications are very familiar to me, and I use them daily in my work. ChatGPT is also a great help, and I use it often for planning tasks, ensuring that the information I input is not sensitive. We have user tracking for our company’s website on Google, so I also perform analysis through that platform. We collaborate with other companies, and one of them uses Slack, so I’ve become familiar with that system as well.

In my work, customer contacts are also made electronically through various messaging applications, mostly Teams. All project-related information is stored in Teams, and customers are granted access to their respective teams, channels, and folders. I find this a convenient way to document and share information. We avoid using email as much as possible, though we do send it occasionally.

FIVE SOCIAL MEDIA TOOLS

MIRO

Miro is available in Teams. I could use it in my current job as a planning platform for teamwork. It could be used for strategy planning. It’s convenient because the planning space continues indefinitely.

DeepL

This seems like a handy translation tool. While testing it, I noticed that it doesn’t translate from English to Finnish, but it can modify English text to fit different styles. It could be useful, for example, if I need to write something business-oriented for a customer.

Blogger

This could be used to create a unique and personal blog. The blog could be used for marketing and advertising the company’s activities if the blog is related to work matters. I couldn’t determine if it’s only meant for personal use. It doesn’t seem like a difficult application to use.

Issuu

Issuu is a free online publishing platform where you can quickly upload and share a digital publication. This could be used to advertise the company if there are compatible programs for publishing. The basic version is free, but the paid version is more expensive than similar alternatives.

TikTok

TikTok is a social media platform for sharing short videos, allowing users to create and publish videos up to one minute long and watch others’ videos. TikTok is very popular, especially among young people. It’s an engaging platform where users spend a lot of time. I haven’t downloaded this app, but we’ve discussed its potential for marketing in my work. So far, we’ve decided that this platform might be more for entertainment than for increasing visibility for our products and services, mainly reaching a specific generation. Time will tell if we try it in the future.

ELEMENTS OF SUCCESSFUL USE OF A DIGITAL APPLICATION

For a digital application to be usable and effective, it should be user-friendly, with an easy learning curve requiring minimal training. A good application offers real value to users without unnecessary features. It should operate reliably and quickly, without long loading times or crashes. It must be secure, ensuring user data is protected and inaccessible to unauthorized parties. The application should comply with data protection laws. If necessary, a good application can be integrated with other applications. Continuous development and good user support are essential. A good price-quality ratio is a definite plus.

SELF-EVALUATION

This was quite an interesting topic, but personally very familiar to me. Exploring different social media tools introduced me to new platforms I wasn’t aware of. These were intriguing and provided new information. The most interesting part was reading other people’s blogs.
