Personal Introduction:

Hello!

I am Okorie Oluchi Miracle. I am from Nigeria and live here in Kuopio with my sister. I arrived in Finland on the 7th of September,2022. I am a second-year student nurse in the Bachelor Degree Program in Nursing (English) at the Savonia University of Applied Science. I worked as a nursing assistant in a clinic in my home country and I had little knowledge about nursing but currently, I am motivated to be an important factor in standardized healthcare delivery. I am happily disposed and my personal values are Trustworthy. Positive minded.Target or goals oriented. Ability to work well under any circumstance.Dependable.Helpful.Creative.Logical and Life-Loving.

From my childhood age and currently, I divinely love children and always interact, teach, guided, and play with them. I appreciate their individual uniqueness and diversity. I am fully curious to learn more about Pediatric nursing, more importantly about the health maintenance of children or other medical problems and I look forward to graduating as a Pediatric nurse because of my unconditional love for kids, I am naturally attracted to kids Likewise the kids also.

My previous internship was at Mehilainen Ykköskodi Victor, Kuopio.

I have received very positive feedback from this internship placement, both from my mentor and the residents. I hope to continue to give the best of myself and maintain the appraisals ongoing.

 

Learning Skills:

Level of Competence: I have obtained basic nursing skills and I can give basic nursing care to sick adults and elderly clients, adding theoretical learning with evidence-based practice. But, I am yet to obtain nursing experience in Paediatrics. I learn by reading, acquiring verbal instructions, and watching my mentor perform the required tasks. I establish my learning by doing the said tasks repeatedly and getting feedback from my mentor.

Goals and how to achieve them: I need to observe evidence-based practice in Paediatric nursing. I would like to have ongoing feedback on my performance on a daily, weekly basis to regularly improve my skills and the knowledge I will gather there in. I would like to learn from my mentor nurses how to get information from the family in rendering care to the sick child. I hope to be allowed to ask questions and get answers that will enhance my learning and competency in nursing. I want to learn more Finnish language for effective communication with clients and their families while rendering quality nursing care.

 

Ethical Knowledge and Professionalism:

Level of competence: I am aware of the ethics and principles of the nursing profession which entails honesty, respect for human dignity, privacy which also involves data protection, precision, and accuracy in caregiving, empathy, justice, professional and personal competency, and good human relationship. Part of my strength includes honesty and empathy. I know that the rights of the child-client have to be respected as also the provision of family-centered care.

 

Working Community Competence:

Level of Competence: I work with a team and I take responsibility for my actions. I love to work with laid down rules and I love to work in a team.

Goals and how to achieve them: I want to be taught the rules and instructions of the Paediatric unit so that I can learn and adhere to them. I would like to engage in multidisciplinary activities and work together with different networks in the training unit. I would like to know situations that are regarded as exceptional and excel in my performance as well.

 

Patient-oriented nursing care:

Level of Competence: I understand that my background is of a different culture from what is accessible here in Finland. It is also important to respect the client´s uniqueness. Moreover, I have been able to interact well in the Finnish setting while taking care of adult patients during my internship and I have been offered a part-time job at Mehilainen ykköskoti Victor where I did my internship and I do part-time work at Mehilainen Mainiokoti.

Goals and how to achieve them: I would like to learn about child-orientated techniques and keep in mind every pediatric client´s or patient´s cultural components of their nursing care as allowed with the aid of using the legislation. I would really like to take part in child or relative-orientated nursing care. I additionally want to enhance my Finnish language abilities to be able to interact well with the clients and their family members.

 

Evidence-based practice and decision-making competence:

Level of competence: Theoretically, I have gained some knowledge about children´s growth and development such as genetic, biological, physiological, nutritional, and environmental factors affecting them as well as some pediatric diseases.

Goals and how to achieve them: I would like to be guided by knowledgeable nurse mentors who would teach me evidence-primarily based totally applications concerning pediatric boom and improvement, demanding situations and illnesses, and the correct nursing care. I am inspired to investigate facts concerning the cases that I might stumble upon and turn out to be extra informed in managing the problems. I need to be mentored to have the ability to research health problems and health risks of the pediatric organization and make use of their own circle of relatives’ assets in making plans for their nursing care according to the nursing process.

 

Clinical Nursing Competence:

Level of competence: My modern skills consist of the right expertise and alertness of aseptic techniques, ergonomics, admiration for individual dignity and confidentiality,  client identification, the ABCDE approach, and fundamental nursing care which include examining vital signs. I have interpreted prescriptions, administered medicinal drugs, and practiced wound care treatment.

Goals and a way to acquire them: I need to learn how to work and offer primary nursing care to children and adolescents. I need to be taught to know the use of medical equipment in the unit and use them in nursing interventions. I need to acquire expertise or information and exhibit capacity in youngsters´ pharmacotherapy. I need to benefit from understanding information in pediatric rehabilitative nursing care. I need to take part in play and leisure sports as cures for kids’ well-being. I need to be guided via way of means of informed mentor nurses who may be capable to speak the English language to enable me to reap the said goals.
