ePLATFORMS

At my work in home care in the city of Helsinki I use different kind of digital tools. Apotti – information system is the main tool I use in my daily work. Apotti is a safe way to communicate with for example doctors, other nurses or with social care workers. Easy Medi is another digital tool I use daily at my work. It is an application where the nurses can inform medication changes for patients and where they can order medication from their patients. I use email and secure email daily at my work. Secure emails are used when patients’ information is mentioned in the email.

I am using the Website of the city of Helsinki at my work. It is reliable source for work related information and guidelines. Sometimes when I cannot find the information I need from there I use YouTube.  YouTube is something that I have sometimes been using at my work. I use it for watching training videos from there. With YouTube it is extremely important to be critical and careful about who have made the videos.

Microsoft Teams is something I use every day. I use it to communicate with our task allocator. In teams I cannot use the names of the patients or anything personal as it`s not safe way. I also use teams for most of the meeting’s I attend weekly and to some trainings. In Teams I can for example check with my work schedule and ask help from my colleagues in real time. In my opinion Teams is a great place to keep meeting as it has many good features and its being all the time developed better for people.

FIVE TOOLS OF SOCIAL MEDIA

WhatsApp

WhatsApp is an application for sending messages and voice messages as well as phone and video calls. It’s very easy to use and its free. I use it every day in my free time. The messages a private, but to protect patient confidentiality I never discuss patient details there. When talking about patients I use only Apotti that is secure. In WhatsApp it’s possible to create groups that are great for example when planning a team day activity or something else that isn’t patient related discussion.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a tool that I have not been using at work before. During this course I have learnt how to use it, and I am seeing the potential of it also at my work. At home care I could use it for example to ask advice of writing messages to different people. ChatGPT can really help by making the writing style right depending on the situation. Sometimes it’s important to be very empathetic when writing messages with patient’s relatives and with those messages ChatGPT can be good help. It’s always very important to remember not to give any personal information about anyone to ChatGPT as security issues are important in health care work.

Miro

I have been using little bit of Miro when studying course package of service design in Tampere university. In my opinion Miro was a great tool to share ideas and work together with other classmates in those courses. Miro has many great features like digital sticky notes, diagramming and collaborative beards that makes teamwork smoother even when people are all working remotely.

Miro is something I could consider using at my work also. Once you get to know how to use it its great but on the other hand it needs little bit of computer skills that all the nurses might not have at my work.

Mural

It is a similar digital tool as Miro is. Mural is cloud-based platform where people can work their ideas or plan processes. Mural also offers digital post it – notes and it has several features and visual elements. With Mural I think we could do easily do some brainstorming and work on our ideas in a team. Mural needs some practicing first, but when the nurses find it easy to use it could be a great help at my work in home care.

LinkedIn

Recently I have started to use LinkedIn as I heard that its good for connecting professionals. I created a profile of myself and now I’m reading interesting posts from those I follow and, I get interesting job offers in LinkedIn. LinkedIn has become a place where I can grow professionally.  I’m happy that I joined in. I have found interesting seminars and trainings trough LinkedIn that can increase my professional grow.

Self-evaluation

Recently I have learnt a lot about new digital tools, and I have got more self-confidence of using them. I think that my strength is that I´m motivated of learning new digital skills and getting to know more of them. Also, this course has given me good experience of learning new. This course has made me to think how many kinds of digital tools there are in home care now and all the possibilities that there could be. This course has been very interesting and useful for me. I think it’s important for everyone to learn new skills and sometimes to stop and evaluate those skills that one already has. I will continue for leaning new digital tools and of course digital skills as well. I will also support my colleagues at work to use better those digital tools that I am familiar with and educate them so that we can improve our work.

I am not that active for using social media. I am on Facebook and on Instagram, but mainly for reading things and to see posts of my friends and family. I don’t tent to do many posts of myself and at my work we are not encouraged to use social media like those I use on my free time. I am very happy that I have recently started using Miro and LinkedIn. I think that new digital tools will help me at my work and, they will widen my networks and give me new perspectives.
