ePlatforms

I’m working in the Intensive care unit as a research nurse. In my work, I use different kind digital and mechanical tools, but not at all social media platforms. I’m familiar with few of patient information systems, Microsoft Office’s tools and many electronic cases report forms (eCRF). I do validation-work and check all patient’s treatment periods in intensive care unit. We must validate the data, that it will be correct to use in the future for example in a registry research. Validation data management system is one kind of e-platform and must have understanding about its functions and same time strong understanding about intensive care nursing and medicine.

In my personal life I use daily WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook and weekly YouTube and LinkedIn -platforms. I have been thinking to resign out of Facebook, because there might be nothing important for me anymore. I think social media will widen the world and bring together people with similar ideas, work and hobbies. Also, same time there is a lot of bullying and people’s mental malaise. Today it’s too easy to write nameless than speak face to face. I don’t like that at all and that is one reason why I don’t want to be for example a influential person.

As a parent, I have thinking to log in to TikTok and Snapchat. I want to understand and become familiar with kid’s and youth’s social media platforms, so I can teach and raise my children better. I think, it’s permit to allows them to use today’s important digital tools right and a safe way.

I chose the following five tools of social media that are new to me. There are thoughts, how I could utilize them in my daily work:

Evernote

Evernote is a platform where team, family or any group of people can keep documents and tasks organized. It will work on all devices. I have used very similar platform, titled Freedcamp and I like the project planning tools. With the tool you can mark any duties to ready and also schedule the tasks to the team members. As usual in normal life, but above all, in the hospital organization it’s important to remember data safety. It’s forbidden to start working with any platforms what are on offer. First the permission will be required from the information management unit.

Wix

Wix is a website builder platform. It’s seems to be very useful for example for the restaurants to manage the menus and table reservations. I have experience only the WordPress website builder and Wix could be very easy and deft to use. I appreciate help center services and web hosting services. I think one of the best thing in Wix is, that you can create and keep safe your own domain ( = unique web address to the specific website on the internet) in Wix. I have built an education environment to the Moodle-platform. Maybe Wix can be one of kind training-environment too?

iAuditor

iAuditor (SafetyCulture ) is a software that allows to digitize all the elements of operations. You can use it to process automation, data analytics, reporting and workflow managements. With application and platform team can share documents, manage resources and give tasks across different departments and functions. I think, iAuditor is an interesting software and it seems to like the most professional tool to use. I like also that in the service there is possibility to build integrations between different actors and services. You can connect iAuditor to software systems such as PowerBI and SAP.

In hospital are in use different kind of patient sensors and in the future there will be more monitors with IoT. If the data protection and all other perspectives are allright with it, maybe with iAuditor we can use patient monitor’s data and information more efficient way?

Mural

Mural is a platform where team can do teamwork, share ideas and put the tasks to the visual form. It’s very similar with Miro tool, what I have used earlier. In my work, Mural can be useful to use in team-meetings, when we have to “brainstorm” something. I like that Mural is suitable with facilitate meetings and there are lot of tools to keep meeting-process in order.

Pinterest

With Pinterest people can share any kind of ideas and pictures all around the world. You can put the picture or search any kind of ideas and expand or dilate your reflections and perspective about it. I think Pinterest is useful in a personal life, not much used in work. But maybe it can be useful, when the team tries to resolve some problem and needs more ideas and inspiration with it. At the beginning of the meeting, the host can show pictures in Pinterest about the theme and helps the team starts to think the subject.

Self-evaluation:

Nowadays there are very much different kind of e-platforms and tools to use in work and in personal life.  It’s good and needed for example in teamwork. In a hospital there are very rigorous regulations and rules to use any of the outsider platforms. It’s necessary to keep data protection in order and it’s forbidden to download apps to the hospital’s devices.

I learned that I could use Mural or Evernote with other teams. If there is a document, what needs to be editing, there is another way than send it to email to all and edit it on Teams-meeting screen together.  And in the future, if I’m a team leader or host in the meetings, I will use some impulse or wake up pictures or tasks at the beginning of the meeting. I think it can help team to start to think the subject.
