Digi Society

Today, with this digi society assignment, I noticed that I’ve lived with major digital changes. When I was a child, we had telephone line and old telephone with a number-roll selector. There were only a few of my friends’ houses that had computers. I remember that I got my first mobile phone at the age of 14. So far my experiences of digitalization have changed a lot.

Digitalization will continue to change our lives and also the working life in the future. When I started as a nurse in university hospital in the year 2010, there were wards where they collected patient data to the paper. I was working in the intensive care unit where was an electric patient information system and at that time it was very fresh way to collect the data. Today hospital’s goal is to be a paperless and be in electric environments. I hope in the future we will have functions that will help some of work processes like direct data collection without any built integrations. Data-management will have all along more force in the leading with knowledge.

Same time it’s very important to teach society, that digital word is not a real world, but it’s good a tool to work and keep contact with each other. I think it’s very important to keep in mind ethical side of digitalization. We all must realize, what is real life and how to behave with normal people in normal face to face relationship. There might be a risk for those people who has for example panic disorder, that they like to stay home and live only in the digital world. At the end, is it a good and high-quality life?

Risks of open digital society

Open digital society has risks. How to protect classified data, example patient information, if people is the weakest link in information security systems? We need more education and awareness of tools and decisions what we do and use in everyday life. People need to understand, digital systems are not the safest places and we all have responsibilities to protect and act safe way in digitalized world.

I think artificial intelligence (AI) is a potential and good way to help write and ask key points about some issues. It’s important to remember that contents of the subject may not be relevant and correct in AI, because it can search data and references from everywhere.

I asked from AI question: How I can benefit with AI with patient monitoring systems? I knew that there can be benefits like earlier recognition of changes of patient’s vital functions. And with AI monitor can suggest way to act stabilize patient’s condition.

AI answered to me: “Patient monitoring utilizing artificial intelligence offers several benefits to healthcare professionals and patients. AI can help the patient monitor identify abnormalities in the patient’s condition earlier and more accurately than traditional methods. For example, AI can detect changes in heart function, blood pressure, or breathing quickly and alert healthcare staff if necessary. Additionally, AI can help predict the patient’s condition progression and provide recommendations for treatment through the patient monitor.

I think I got good answer to the question, but still, I need to be careful with it and be all the time critical with source data.

With this assignment I did learn that I must improve my English writing skills. My master’s degree studies are now in the final straight and I noticed that I can observe digitalization from many sides in my own personal and work life. At the same point I understand, I won’t be never completely ready with digitalization, and I have to learn new tools and environments continually. And the most important aspect is to operate in the safe way with digital tools and teach society to act as well.

    Hi!

I can relate to many things you wrote about your childhood. I also remember time when our home phone number had only 5 digits and then it changed to 7 digits. Back then it was so easy to remember your friends’ phone numbers. Nowadays there is so many other things to remember.

I also related to many things you wrote about, such as using a landline phone at home. Back then, you couldn’t just call a friend to see if they wanted to go outside, you had to go to their door and ask in person. Nowadays, children can easily message each other, and these face-to-face interactions are not happening, as you pointed out in your text. I’ve also noticed in my own work that many younger colleagues and students no longer know how to greet or introduce themselves to new people. This is concerning especially in the healthcare field.
