For Platforms I chose
ChatGPT, LinkedIn, Skype, TikTok and WhatsApp for evaluation.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence tool designed to assist users with writing, research, problem-solving, and communication. On the positive side, it can improve productivity by generating ideas, drafting reports, answering questions, and supporting learning. Students can use it for academic guidance, while professionals benefit from content creation and brainstorming support. It enhances efficiency and saves time.
However, there are negative aspects. Overreliance on ChatGPT may reduce critical thinking and originality. It can sometimes generate inaccurate or fully wrong information. Ethical concerns also arise regarding plagiarism and misuse in academic or professional contexts.
For this task, I chose ChatGPT to structure content clearly and generate balanced arguments. Successful use of digital applications like ChatGPT requires clear purpose, fact-checking, ethical awareness, and user responsibility. ChatGPT can actually be very helpful tool, but it has major risks as described above and the risks are well hidden in common use. Also ChatGPT way to communicate with you is very pleasant and it can be very convincing.
LinkedIn is a professional networking platform focused on career development and business connections. Positively, it allows users to build professional profiles, connect with industry experts, search for jobs, and share achievements. It supports personal branding and global networking opportunities.
On the negative side, LinkedIn may create pressure to present an ideal professional image. Competition can cause stress, and privacy concerns arise when sharing detailed career information. Some users experience spam messages or misleading job postings.
I chose LinkedIn because it represents professional social media use and digital branding. Successful digital application use depends on authenticity, professional communication skills, and strategic networking.
I am working as a recruiter these days. In Linkedin I can share my thoughts about work and celebrate about succession and give certain image and glamour about my work. So as how I see LinkedIn is that it is a way to shine brand – as in person or as a person working in a certain company. I have account in LinkedIn, but I havent found my way to publish content what I feel that I would like to be recognized by it.
Skype
Skype is a communication platform offering video calls, voice calls, and messaging. Positively, it enables global communication for families, businesses, and educators. It became especially important for remote work and online learning. It reduces travel costs and increases accessibility.
Negatively, technical issues such as poor connectivity can interrupt communication. Privacy and security concerns have been raised in digital communication platforms. Additionally, prolonged video meetings may cause “screen fatigue.”
I selected Skype as an example of digital communication tools supporting remote collaboration. Successful use requires stable internet, digital etiquette, cybersecurity awareness, and time management.
I went to Skype website and it put me straight to Teams. So there is no Skype anymore. The description about e-communication fits straight with Teams also. I use Teams on daily basis and as doing 100% remote work I feel that Teams gives alot but day by day it also makes you distant with your co-workers in a way it’s hard to describe. I think you lose your spot in the community in time and its like you even never was there.
TikTok
TikTok is a short-video social media platform focused on creative content. Positively, it promotes creativity, entertainment, and entrepreneurship. Many users build careers as influencers or promote small businesses. Educational content has also grown on the platform.
However, TikTok can be addictive due to its algorithm-driven content feed. It may expose users to misinformation or inappropriate material. Privacy and data security concerns have also been widely discussed.
I could use TikTok in my work to promote my employer if I had the rights to do that. Meanwhile I could also make just funny videos or create content whatever I like – expression myself!
WhatsApp
WhatsApp is a messaging application that allows text, voice, video calls, and file sharing. Positively, it provides fast, low-cost global communication. It supports group collaboration, business communication, and family interaction. End-to-end encryption increases message security.
Negatively, misinformation spreads quickly through group chats. Users may feel overwhelmed by constant notifications. Privacy concerns exist when sharing personal information in large groups.
For younger audience WhatsApp is the way. I myself as a ¨boomer¨ like to use sms or phone calls and I feel people feel anxious because they get called. The step to answer phonecall is much bigger than to answer to WA message.
I selected WhatsApp because it demonstrates everyday digital communication usage. Successful use requires privacy awareness, responsible forwarding of information, and balanced digital habits.
Total self evaluation about the assignment is that there are countless amount of different ways to use digital enviroments in various different ways. You can aim your focus on business or pleasure or in-between. Digital enviroment however blurs the line between free-time and working enviroment. This can be advantage or disadvantage. For me I can do my school assignments with my limited free time. However my life is bit hectic since I have wife, two children, dog and sports and gaming hobby which takes my time 110%. This just adds another 10% to the math and sometimes the result is that when you do 120% everyday there are days when you are working in 60 or something % and when those days come it automatically means that something will miss your dedication. This is what is my disadvantage at the moment for digitalisation. For me I might be more productive if I would be able to silo my life and not do everything during one other. All these things need strong self-leadership and If the self-leadership goes out of hand the result is that you wont get anything done.
Planning is very important to get things done and also when I got this assignment I had to plan what kind of view I take. I decided to evaluate and analyze some sort of known platforms for me since those felt easier – I wasn’t ready to start over with totally new platforms. Also nowdays you need to register everywhere if you want to get more information about the features of certain platform. You get just a sneakpeak or a text ¨JOIN US¨ and ¨FREE REGISTER¨ before you see anything else than a logo. This is a way to gather important data from the consumer/customer/client. This also have opened my eyes that there are a big world of platforms which are all new to me and I have some urge now to move from my ¨comfy nest¨ to explore new opportunities. It is time for that.
