Social media tools:
I chose:
YouTube: I utilize YouTube by watching how some actions or procedures are done. YouTube has videos on the tech we use in our line of work. If you dont know how to use one – just watch a youtube guide. The downside of this is that you cant ask real time questions, or if you understand something wrong by watching the video – real world use is different compared to watching a video. Also if its not the original equipment manufacturers video – it might be false information.
Facebook: There are really great pages on Facebook that you can use to read information from your colleagues. You can also chat with others to get some support in your situtation. If you need “word-of-mouth” information – you can get it there. The downside is obviously that usually it is not backed by your employer and it could be false or even dangerous to utilize. Use your brain.
ChatGPT: Great tool to understand things better. If you need reminders of how something work – for example the human heart. With good commands the AI can be really helpful – if you know what to take seriously and evalute the information with care. You can summarize and translate using this tool. It is really useful learning tool.
WhatsApp: You could use this to communicate with all of your employees and distribute information in real time to avoid important information to be lost in the email limbo. The limitations are that you cant send sensitive information on this platform. So only basic information according to some parts of your job. You cant send medical information on this platform.
Skype: Skype is used to host meetings everyday. It is secure and easy to use for everyone. Also you cant about medical records on this channel either, so only “corporate” stuff.
Digital and social media tools have become a valuable part of my daily work. They help me communicate, learn, and provide better care. By understanding their advantages and limitations, and by focusing on qualities that make them effective, I can integrate them into my work in a smart way. I keep learning how to use them better, and in doing so, I keep improving as a healthcare professional.
