Digital tools at my daily work
It has been some time since I’ve been at my workplace in New Children’s hospital due to these studies. I work as a nurse in EEG-unit and we do long term monitoring for epilepsy to both children and adults. In our daily work we use SystemPlus Evolution software by Micromed to monitoring and Brain Quick to analyse. Patient information is handled in secured folders by Windows and patient data in Apotti software. Our meetings are organised in Teams and if we host some educational lectures we use PowerPoint to invigorate the message. We use Outlook for emailing.
New tools
At the list written there was many new tools of Social Media that I haven’t even heard of. Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp is in daily use at my sparetime. But if I think of my daily work I could find my self using these tools:
Miro
“Miro is the AI-powered visual workspace that brings teams together to collaborate and make faster decisions.” I think we could use this Miro workspace for example with our students and new workers training program. You can set goals and sign achievements to this workspace and it sounds convinient.
Mural
With Mural we could make meetings feel more like teamwork than a monolog by one team member.
LinkedIn is a professional networking platform that connects individuals and businesses for career development, networking, and recruitment purposes. Healthcare units could use LinkedIn to post job openings and connect with potential candidates.
Dall-E
With this incredibly talented AI platform one could create visions and images for example enhancing job openings with images and make them more tempting to approach.
YouTube
There is already tons of information published in Youtube that you can educate yourself with. We could also create some new material to advice patients or our stuff.
Pros and cons of Social Media
Social media has spread into our lives in a rush, offering a variety of benefits and drawbacks. Social media allows us to connect with friends, family and colleagues across the world in a flash and making it easier to stay in touch. Social media is also good at spreading information, news and awareness, but one must be aware of misinformation and fake news too. It is time-saving to use social media to learning and education in healthcare units and one can learn new skills throuh online courses when ever suitable.
There is lots of cons in social media also. One must be really aware of data privacy especially in healthcare where handling delicate information. There has been cybersecurity attacks already and one need to know the threaths and how for example phishing looks like. A lot talk has been about mental health concerns when dealing with social media. It may cause addiction and anxiety if not used wisely and the constant exposure to curated images and lifestyles can lead feelings of inadequacy particularly among younger people. Many employers can see social media as an cause of reduced productivity and it really can distract work if the use is not in control.
Self evaluation
This task was really interesting to work on and I found myself surfing across those social media tools with exitement. I found few doable tools in my freetime also, but as the healthcare is so regulated it is hard to find new tools to use in our work.
