A lot has happend in digital field after entering in my healtcare career. We started from writing all patient information in paper and it was stored in files. You can only imagine the space needed to store all the papers. So I think it was a releaf that digital platforms came in to healthcare units. Allthough it was a rocky road at first and was a huge site to get all coworkers to learn the new operating systems and commit to the digital leap. But nowadays I think we are doing fine what comes to digital developmet. There is yet new things to learn and new possibilities ahed but what digital times has given us sofar is remarkable.
GDPR in my point of view did not do much changes and while working in healthcare it has always been important to take good care of peoples personal information. But GDPR has helped me to understand when and where it is ok to use our data and more carefully consider where to give your personal information. All in all I think it was a really good enhacement in digital world.
Digitalisation will continue growing and developing. Routine tasks can be automated and in same time give space for critical thinking, creativity and emotional intelligence. What comes to AI, it has a huge potential to enhance our quality of life. Healthcare can be more personalized when AI searches information about your well-being and personal needs based on the data. In our hospital there is an AI search database for information and care instruction. It can speed up the searching time and scrolling when there is so much information and instructions to look from. We must think AI as an enhancement to our work not as a replacement for humans. I think there is more to work on in our mindsets and attitude towards AI and after that the AI can get in it’s full potential in healthcare units.
ChatGPT is a one of a kind searcmachine. I already see it as a fair Google replacement. You can ask so many things and it gives you a quite good answer. But what I see is that those things are very much undetailed and indefinite and usually ChatGPT gives you few options and not one right answer. But I think it can be a good thing. You have to summarise the answers by yourself to get a fuller view from the topic and not to assume it is done for you. When asking about health issues it also recommends to contact healthcare professionals. It has really overwhelming potential on giving advices to our everyday life.
This part of the course was a nice introduction and had me thinking familiar things again. Digitalisation has swept me with it and I think all the credit goes to these studies. Can’t wait to learn even more and use my knowledge on my work as a nurse or some new tasks!

Hey Sanna,
I agree with you that electronic documentation has made work easier and faster in the healthcare sector. However, I would like to see the development of a proper unified IT system in the social and healthcare field in Finland, so that work can be even smoother and quicker. Additionally, it is important to pay attention to data security, as you mentioned in your blog.
Hello! I completely agree with you that we should see AI as an aid and as an enhancement in healthcare. It can provide a lot of ways to help us do our job. AI will not replace patient care or patient interactions though. Regarding digital platforms, I fully agree with Hannele. I would also like to see a unified information system in Finland, where data from different hospitals and private providers can communicate with each other.
The beginning of your text sounded familiar. The progress over the past twenty years has been astonishing. When I started working in the social and healthcare sector, there wasn’t even an electronic recording system available in the private sector. It’s alarming to think how weak data security was back then. A lot also relied on employees’ memory, as documentation was done very sporadically. I agree with the previous commenters that AI and digital solutions are excellent tools to support our work, but they will never replace human beings. A national patient and client information system would be the crown jewel of this whole setup, as using multiple systems often only complicates the client’s situation and creates additional work for employees.
