My current job and the tools I use
I work in telemarketing for a charity organization. My task is to call people and ask them to become monthly donors. We work remotely from our own homes, which suits me very well. For making the calls, we use a tool called LeadDesk. It is a telemarketing system that automatically rotates numbers and shows us background information about the person we are calling. This helps me focus on the conversation instead of technical details.
Our organization also has an internal AI system. We use it when we get difficult questions from people. We can ask the AI for help during the call and often find the answers we need. This supports our work and makes us more confident.
We also use Microsoft Teams daily. It works as a chat for communication with colleagues and team leaders. We use it to ask questions, give updates, and keep in touch with the wider organization. Teams is also used for feedback sessions and meetings.
In addition, I follow the organization’s Facebook and Instagram pages. They help me stay up to date with current campaigns and important news.
Five new social media tools I could use in my work
The five tools I could use in my work are TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, ChatGPT, and DeepL.
TikTok and YouTube would be useful for raising awareness about our work. I could create short videos about telemarketing in a charity context. These could show what kind of work we do, who we are, and why our cause matters. That could help people understand our work better and treat telemarketers with more respect. It might also attract job seekers.
LinkedIn would be a good platform to share professional content about telemarketing. I could write short posts about my daily work or share success stories. It might also help build a more positive image of telemarketing in general. LinkedIn could help us reach companies that may want to support our work.
ChatGPT could help me improve my sales pitch. I could ask for ideas on how to start a call or handle difficult questions. It can also help me rewrite text or improve wording to make messages clearer and more effective. I believe ChatGPT could also help generate creative ideas for social media content or scripts for campaign videos.
DeepL would be helpful for translating materials into English and Swedish. It would make it easier to communicate with people who speak different languages. Some Swedish-speaking Finns prefer to speak only Swedish, and if we have prepared materials in this language, we are more likely to succeed in delivering the message. If we want to reach more people or improve our materials, clear translations are important. DeepL is known for being easy to use and quite accurate.
Social media: positives and negatives
Social media has many positive sides. It helps organizations share information quickly and reach many people. It can create a strong online presence and improve brand visibility. It also gives space for interaction, feedback, and storytelling. Social media can increase interest in the organization, attract support, and build trust.
In work life, it can help connect people. It supports networking, learning, and even recruitment.
However, there are also negative sides. Social media can spread false information quickly. It can also lead to misunderstandings if things are not communicated clearly and rapidly enough. In customer work, public comments may sometimes be unfair or harmful. Using social media takes time, and managing accounts can be stressful. Some tools may raise privacy concerns, especially when dealing with user data or sensitive content. In work, it’s important to remember the difference between personal and professional use.
Tools I chose and why / What affects successful use
The tools I chose were TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, ChatGPT, and DeepL because they could support both communication and content creation in my daily work.
TikTok and YouTube allow short and informative videos. These platforms are popular and visual, which is helpful in showing our work in a more relatable way. Short video content could give people a better idea of what we do and improve how they respond to us.
LinkedIn would be a good way to connect with companies. It would also allow me to explain the goals of our telemarketing team and give a more accurate picture of the work. This could improve public understanding and support for our efforts. It could also help us attract business donors who want to contribute to our cause.
ChatGPT offers quick help with writing, planning, and editing content. It can be used for brainstorming, revising texts, and building communication materials. This saves time and improves the quality of what we share.
DeepL is useful for reaching people in different language groups. By using it, we could create better communication materials for Swedish- and English-speaking people. This helps reduce misunderstandings and ensures more people can be included in our campaigns.
The successful use of digital tools depends on several things. A tool must be easy to use, or people will avoid it. It must also be useful in daily tasks. If it doesn’t support the actual work, it won’t add any value. Reliability is also important. The tool should work smoothly and protect user data. Finally, proper guidance is key. Even the best tools can fail if people don’t know how to use them correctly.
Organizations should also consider the needs of their users and offer support when introducing new tools. Regular training and clear instructions help everyone feel more confident using digital platforms. Encouraging feedback and improving the tools based on real user experience can make a big difference. In the long run, successful implementation of these tools can increase both efficiency and motivation in daily work.
Self-evaluation
This assignment helped me think about how much digital tools and social media are already part of work life. I realized that even though I don’t use many of these tools every day, they could support my work in new ways. I had not thought about using TikTok or YouTube at work, but now I see how they could be useful for raising awareness.
I also learned more about what makes a tool effective. It’s not just about the features, but how well it fits into the work and how easy it is to use. I think I could try new tools more actively and learn to use them better. Tools like ChatGPT and DeepL are easy to test and offer quick value.
I believe digital tools will become even more important in the future. It’s important to stay curious and ready to learn. This assignment encouraged me to explore and be more open to using social media in the future. I now feel more confident trying new platforms and finding creative ways to support my work through digital tools.
