INFORMATION ABOUT KELA, OMAKANTA AND KEVA

During my life, I have received several different benefits from Kela, such as student financial aid, housing allowance, student loan guarantee and maternity allowance. In addition, I have received sickness benefit, child benefit and parental allowance. At the moment, my family only receives child benefit for two children under the age of 17 and I myself pay the healthcare fee because I am a student. Finland has a very comprehensive benefit system, which is run by Kela, and it enables basic income in different life situations.

I have worked for years in health centre practices and treated foreign patients, so I am familiar with the European Health Insurance Card and have acquired it not only for myself but also for my children for possible trips abroad. The European Health Insurance Card enables medical care EU or EEA country, Switzerland, the UK or Northern Ireland

In Oma Kanta, Finns can see their own health information, such as visits to a doctor, nurse or dental care, and in the future, social welfare texts will also be visible in My Kanta Pages. In addition, it shows e.g. recipes and laboratory results. In addition, it is possible to view the data of underage children from My Kanta until the age of 12 without restriction and after that until the age of 16 based on the young person’s own consent. You can log in to Oma Kanta with your online banking credentials or mobile certificate, for example.

I logged in to Keva’s website to check my pension information, but for some reason Keva’s system refused to calculate it, so I tried logging in to Elo’s website, where I could find my pension information. My first possible retirement age is only at the age of 67, when I would receive a basic pension and this would rise to the age of 70 by about 400 euros per month. I was surprised that my current pension would already be quite good if I retired at the age of 67.

DIGITAL SHOPS

I browsed several online stores and compared prices, made a price comparison for Kate Spade bags, the price of which ranged from just over 100 euros to over 400 euros for the same bag. The cheapest price was on ebay, but there the website raised doubts about the authenticity of the product based on the price and product images. I also compared the price of the iPhone 15 pro Max, which was around 900 euros on ebay and 1299 eu As for the phone, the ebay page seemed plausible and I probably would have dared to order the phone from there. As an active user of cosmetics, I also browsed cosmetics through ebay and Amazon, the same foundation that is not available in Finland cost 54 euros through ebay and Revolve through the online store 56 euros, I myself bought the product from a trip to Singapore and there from the Sephoran store the product was about 55 euros, so the prices in the online stores were very similar. When ordering goods through eBay or Amazon, for example, it is good to pay attention to postage costs and possible customs fees, which can increase the price of even a cheap-looking product by almost half. ros in a Finnish online store.

I have used a few foreign website purchases and ordered different products from there, e.g. Korean cosmetics are easier and often cheaper online than in Finland. I have also ordered goods from Temu’s online store, but the quality is often poor. And I wouldn’t dare to order cosmetics from online stores like temu.

I try to use reliable side purchases when browsing online, nowadays you can order goods from several foreign shops in Finland easily and cheaply. The Vinted online flea market service is also functional and from there I have ordered used clothes from Poland with very low shipping costs. When traveling, I use a lot of booking.com and trivago sites, as well as Agoda and skyscanner to find cheap flights. I feel that the sites are reliable, my husband and I have safely dared to book hotels with advance payment through booking, for example. However, just this fall, we fell victim to a widespread online scam and lost booking. com through the site several hundred euros in scam. This taught me that in the future we will be more careful before paying extra fees to foreign hotels through the sites.

COLLECTING DATA ON HOME CARE ACTIVITIES DIGITALLY

In my work, we collect information on a website produced by NHG, which stores various background information on home care work, which we use as a basis for knowledge-based management. Artificial intelligence creates data based on information obtained from operating systems, and we supervisors use the data to support our own management. The system covers work and the data collected extensively and is an important part of daily management and monitoring of work performance. I have noticed that when producing data from several systems, there is also a margin of error for various statistical errors that have to be corrected manually. Artificial intelligence is an extremely good aid in producing information, but personnel human typing errors or certain undocumented job descriptions cannot be corrected by the gun, and thus the information is always partially distorted.

CHALLENGES FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT USE VIRTUAL SERVICES

People who do not have the opportunity, know-how or tools to use virtual services are left in the dark on many issues these days. I myself notice that if you don’t follow social media continuously, you won’t see many different announcements about events, for example. From the point of view of health care, elderly people who do not have online banking credentials and are unable to log in to My Kanta Pages, for example, prove to be a challenge. Nowadays, laboratory results, epicrises of doctors and invitations to outpatient clinics may be sent to e-mail and My Kanta Pages instead of paper letters. Most invoices are also sent as e-invoices.

Getting services is more challenging for these people when they rely on certain call times, for example, compared to those who use digital services and can contact healthcare faster or can book an appointment for examinations themselves. Health care should also remember this group of people and offer them sufficiently comprehensive services and, at the same time, guidance on the use of digital services.

DIGITAL COMPETENCE TEST

I found the test a bit difficult and was partly surprised by the results. I notice that even though I feel that my digital skills are quite good, there are still many things I could improve. The test opened up an understanding of everything related to digitalization and how many different things should be known and taken into account in today’s world, where we live in the midst of continuous digitalization.

Thinking about the topic made me think, among other things, about the reliability of different online stores and how to compare price differences. I am familiar with My Kanta Pages and Kela’s pages, and I have used them a lot over the years. I understood how many different digital platforms I use in my daily work and civilian life, and through the test, how much skills are needed in today’s digital world. Our children grow up in a completely different world and think very differently. This is also something that should be considered in supervisor work, as subordinates may include an older person with poor digital skills and a young person living in the digital world at the same time.
