I work as a service supervisor in home care in the wellbeing services county of North Savo. I use several digital tools in my daily work. Microsoft 360 is the most used platform for booking, where I use Outlook email and calendar every day. In addition, I manage communication with colleagues through Teams, and there is also a lot of common material and we collect different kinds of information in shared folders that are stored in Teams. I also hold meetings and attend training via teams several times a week.

I enter my own working hours in the Nepton system daily and my employees’ shifts are in the Titanian system, both of which I use every day in my work. The invoicing system is Rondo which is used weekly, I mainly accept invoices from my unit. We save all decisions in the D10 document system, and we monitor and manage Hilkka’s daily work through the ERP system. We plan the entire daily workflow of the nursing staff through the Hilkka system, and we can monitor the flow and load of the work from the system on a daily basis. In addition, the patient information systems Omni and Pegasos are in daily use. In home care, there are medicine dispensers that work through the Evondos system, the apartments have electric locks with the TES system, and cooperation with the pharmacy is carried out through the Easymedi system. In addition, several other digital platforms that I use occasionally in my work.

SOCIAL MEDIA IN WORKING LIFE

The use of social media as part of work has become more common and can be an effective way to make work visible and highlight work-related areas. The wellbeing services county of North Savo is widely represented on several social media platforms, where the work carried out in the wellbeing services county is made visible from different directions and information on current issues in the wellbeing services county is promoted. In my opinion, this kind of use of social media to support work makes sense and helps to reach customers in the best way today. On the other hand, we are easily left under the illusion that all working-age people and young people are on social media and that information from social media is thus available at all times. I myself am one of those people who try to take a break from social media from time to time and that’s why I haven’t really opened social media channels in my civilian life, sometimes the break can last for months. Therefore, the information shared on social media does not reach me either. I object to the fact that all information is currently only available on social media. In this case, the information does not reach all target groups at the same speed, as do the elderly or people with otherwise weaker digital skills. Social media literacy is also challenging at times, and people easily comment on things very quickly on social media.  On the other hand, the good thing about being in communication and social media is its quick accessibility, if you want to quickly inform a wide audience or show different aspects of your work, social media serves as a very good platform for producing information. At the same time, negative feedback spreads very quickly on social media.

I feel that I need clarity in my calendering and scheduling. I like visually clear yet feature-rich platforms, and evernote seems like one, I could try to clarify my own scheduling with it.

LINKED

I have a personal profile, but I could also use the platform more to recruit employees and highlight my own work and home care work and create a more positive image. There is a constant shortage of labour in the care sector, and ways should be found to raise the reputation and prestige of work. The work of practical nurses should be made more visible and inviting, and linked could serve as one platform for this. In many social welfare and healthcare clinics, Linked serves as a low-key channel for advertising the employer and creating a positive image of the employer.

Many work-related tasks require identity verification in a secure manner, normally I use my online banking credentials for this. The mobile certificate would work better here and could be downloaded directly to my work phone.

CHAT GPT

We could try to make more use of artificial intelligence in solving challenges we face in our daily work, and it would certainly provide new ideas and more information to support our own thoughts and work.

FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM AND TIKTOK

Creating a channel for the work community/unit and publishing the work there could make the work more visible and raise the reputation of home care. On the other hand, care must be taken with these when representing a larger organization. The wellbeing services county of North Savo has its own channels and strict data security conditions, so I cannot independently create content for social media about my work or unit.

SELF EVALUATION

Even though I’m used to using certain social media platforms, I’m still bad at combining work and social media. In this day and age, self-marketing on social media like Lindell would be important and create opportunities to network and find new partnerships and job opportunities.

This is something I still need to learn, I am still unfamiliar with many social media platforms, while doing the task I came across several different calendaring applications that would make it easier to organize my own work. In the future, I intend to study these better. At least I have already managed to give up the paper calendar, and I now make all work-related calendar entries in the Outlook calendar.  The elements of using a good digital application are awareness of the operation of the platform and the degree of information sharing, how widely information is shared on social media. Understanding the operating principles of the application is also important, as is taking into account the secure use. Personally, I feel that it is good to try to protect oneself and one’s privacy to a certain extent in a strongly digitalizing society.
