There are two students in our family, so Kela’s (www.omakela.fi) pages are familiar to us. Our students apply for benefits through the pages, and I myself pay the students’ health care fee through those pages.

I have renewed recipes through the Omakanta pages. Repeating a recipe is easy and effortless, even on a mobile device. During my working career, I have been implementing Kanta services and e-Prescription in healthcare, so I feel a special interest in the current development of Kanta services, even though I no longer work directly with it myself.

I can easily check the amount of my future pension on Keva’s website (www.keva.fi), where I can also assess the effect of the length of my working career on my earned pension. This encourages me to continue my working career beyond the statutory deadline.

Booking.com
Booking.com is a booking site I visit often. I find the site particularly meaningful because you can read reviews from previous users of apartments and hotels. When I use, for example, hotels’ own booking websites, there is no such possibility, so I feel that Booking.com is a reliable and usable platform.

OmaOlo
Omaolo is a national portal for making symptom assessments. That way, our customers approach health care and get an assessment of their need for treatment. This reduces the burden on healthcare and, on the other hand, brings the necessary amount of preliminary information to help professionals when dealing with patients’ issues.

Digitalization and Digital Gap?

Digitalization of healthcare does not mean removing or replacing other forms of service. In my opinion, new digital forms of service complement the existing service selection while more traditional forms of service remain in use. In this way, even those people who do not have the ability or desire to use digital services still get the service they need.

Digital competence test
It was really interesting to do the digital competence test. I found that my biggest areas of development are in information production and security. Certainly areas that I should deepen!

Thoughts and experiences
Evaluating my own digital behavior is always useful. I find myself to be routinized and accustomed user of digital services. This kind of behaviour ,however, brings its own challenges. My trust in digital services is sometimes even too great. I think I have to pay more attention to the protection of information and use some critical evaluation of various websites in the future.
