Kuopio is located some 4-5 hour ride from Helsinki.
By plane
You can take a flight from Helsinki to Kuopio. Kuopio airport is located 30 min from the city center. You can either take a taxi or a local bus number 40 (operating Mon-Fri at 06.00-19.30) from the airport to the city center (see below).
In case you arrive by plane to Helsinki and need help in choosing the connecting train, please contact Savonia staff members for advice.

- Taxi: +358 200 111 01 (Taksiykköset). Taxi can be also ordered by using Book a taxi app available in Google and App stores.
- Taxi: +358100 0700 (VieVie). This taxi can also be booked with an app (0100 0700 app).
By train to Kuopio
The train station (Asemakatu 1) is located 10 min walk from the city center. We recommend trains over long-distance buses due to trains being more comfortable while traveling long distances.

- The local bus 40 operates between the airport (=lentokenttä) and city center (tori = Kuopio market square) from Mondays to Fridays between 06.00-19.30. On weekends and nights you need to take a taxi to the airport.
- There are several buses operating between the city center and Savonia main campus (Microkatu 1) e.g. 4, 7, 16, 21, 23, 31, 35. The closest bus stops to campus are Savilahti E and Microkatu.
Please note that in buses you can only pay with cash (3,30 € / ride) or with Vilkku app available in Google and App stores.
Parking at Microkatu
Short-term/guest parking is possible in the parking house and yard areas. In the yard areas, guest places are marked with traffic signs. Payment with mobile apps (EasyPark and Parkman).
