In today’s world, digitalization is not just a trend—it’s a way of life. From transforming industries to reshaping our daily routines, technology is at the heart of everything we do. This blog is a reflection of my experiences, insights, and learnings about navigating the digital world, both as a student and a professional.

Digital banking
Digi Society assignment focused on the role of digitalization in various industries, with personal reflections on the banking sector in Sri Lanka. We analyzed how digitalization introduced services like mobile banking, QR payments, and AI-powered customer service, enhancing efficiency and security. The assignment also proposed innovative ideas, such as introducing electronic payment systems for transportation and implementing a Single Sign-On (SSO) system modeled after Finland’s successful example. Furthermore, we examined the risks of an open digital society, including data privacy concerns, cyber threats, and dependence on technology, alongside the impacts of GDPR on data protection and organizational practices.

Digital Services
Digital Citizen assignment explored the digital transformation of Sri Lanka’s social insurance and healthcare systems, focusing on key programs like the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF), and the Samurdhi Program. We examined the integration of digital services such as eHealth and telemedicine, which enhance healthcare efficiency and accessibility, especially during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, we compared global platforms like Amazon with local Finnish stores, analyzing pricing, service reliability, and information adequacy. Reflections on tools like VMware demonstrated their critical role in improving productivity, while discussions on the digital divide emphasized the importance of inclusivity in a digitized society.

Productivity
ePlatforms assignment delved into the use of social media and digital tools in professional and academic contexts. Tools like LinkedIn, Slack, and Miro were highlighted for their ability to facilitate networking, collaboration, and project management. Practical applications of platforms like Microsoft Teams and Instagram in academic work were explored, showcasing their versatility. Additionally, tools like Mobiilivarmenne and DeepL were recognized for their role in enhancing accessibility and integration, particularly for foreigners in Finland.
