During my career in veterinary pathology laboratory I’ve been involved in so many activities. My so called everyday work has always been the processing of the animal patients’ cytological and histological samples. Histological samples are biopsies taken from live patients and tissue samples from necropsied animals. In the laboratory I process the samples to sections that can be visualized in a microscope by a pathologist. I make different kind of stainings to the tissue sections. My speciality field is immunohistochemistry, where (more or less) specific antigens in tissue are labelled with antibodies and visualized with colors, usually DAB. I have also been assisting in parasitological research. For example, I’ve become familiar with Trichinella, Toxoplasma and many intestinal parasites in animals that can also infect humans.
