Kela

When I studied full-time as a student, I received study support from Kela. Now, while studying for a higher degree, I pay Kela a health care fee, which is mandatory, even tought I as a full-time worker don’t need student health care. Otherwise, I have not used Kela’s services lately. I have had a European insurance card for several years. It is useful when you travel.

Omakanta

I can log into Omakanta with my own bank credentials. The service is convenient, because you can easily see your health information there. I have previously gone to look at records if I have had a blood test, for example. I always don’t remember everything when you go to the doctor or physiotherapist, for example, so it’s good to have a place where you can check the information afterwards.

Keva

On Keva webpages you are able to check your pension statement and by using the pension calculator you are able to estimate your pension based on your own information. As in Omakanta, you can also log in to Keva with your personal bank credentials, mobile ID or smart ID card. In my case, I logged in with my own bank credentials. For some reasons the pension calculator didn’t work for me.

Online shops

I use a lot of different online stores. When everyday life is busy, you don’t have time to go to the shops. Therefore, ordering online is easy. I prefer services with free returns. I order for example from Zalando and there the price corresponds to the prices in stores. Sometimes there can be discounts. There is enought information for the consumer but many online stores do not. Zalando is reliable but I don’t order for example if I dont’t get an invoice. Nowadays, for example, traveling is also convenient when you can get plane tickets or train tickets in an application on your phone.

HeiaHeia application

I found the application named HeiaHeia. HeiaHeia is a GDPR-compliant, multilingual workplace wellbeing program that is especially suitable for remote and hybrid work and can be used in a mobile application, browser or on your own smart device. One of the app’s motivational factors is based on peer support: like-minded friends’ and colleagues’ example inspires, encourages, and supports to maintain an active everyday life.

The app emphasizes the importance of little things in everyday life. According to recent research, being physically active for just a few minutes at a time is good for health, especially for people who have a sedentary lifestyle. A little movement already stimulates blood circulation and stretches muscles and joints.

Daily wellness challenges are a nice addition in the app. The app challenges you to drink at least a liter of water a day for four weeks. The program gives a different health tip every day to help you increase your water intake, for example by putting fruit slices in the water.

Digitalization and digital gap

Digitalization has taken a huge step in recent years. I have basic skills myself, but sometimes I wonder how much, for example, the older generation has had to work for digitalization. Little by little, more and more things are handled digitally, which challenges people to learn new things all the time. Some people don’t even want to learn, so they easily miss things. For example, my grandfather doesn’t have an email and doesn’t even want to. However, there would be good conditions and qualifications for learning digitalization.

The digital gap may grow very large and older are groups will no longer be able to handle things. It is worrying. Fortunately, many organizations support older people to learn digital skills. However, not everyone wants to learn.

Digital competence test

I did digital competence test and the test shows that I am strongest at informations, specially critical evaluation and self-service. That’s what I have been thinking. The least points I got in production, specially producting and sharing. All in all, this test was very interesting to do. The results concretizes me in digital world and helps me to develop my weaknesses.

Self-evaluation

In this section, I got good package about digitalization and I got to think about things related to this. It’s interesting what the world will be like in 20 years, for example, in terms of digital. Today, digitally is connected to almost everything. It is so natural that you may not even notice it. Digitalization makes life easier in many ways, but it is also important to do other things in everyday life.
