I work as a physiotherapist in the organization field. I work on musculoskeletal health. In my current workplace, many different digital tools are used. In recent years, they have only increased. we use, for example, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube at work. We use these three for the most. We also use for exmaple Zoom and Teams. These tools have many positive effects. You can reach a huge numer of people with them. For example, we hold lectures, so we reach significantly more people when it is possible to participate remotely. However, some customers want to come on site, and that is also possible.

I use social media every day at work and in everyday life. You don’t have to be a big company to succeed in social media, just need to know what you are doing.

New tools for daily work

SharePoint

SharePoint is a part of the Microsoft Office environment. It has become known to me while doing schoolwork. SharePoint is a web-based communication platform. SharePoint is a versatile tool fot information management and publishing. Organizations use Microsoft SharePoint to create sites. It can be used as a secure place to store, organize and share data, making it accessible on almost any device. I feel that it is easy to communicate in a large work community through this. I myself work in a very small work community, so I don’t feel that it would be necessary for us.

OneDrive

OneDrive is also a part of the Microsoft Office environment. OneDrive is a file storage and sharing service that is part of Microsoft’s service package. OneDrive is also included in other Microsoft services, such as Office, the Windows operating system ans Windows Phones. At my workplace, for example, large files and pictures are shared there so that everyone can easily access them.

Yammer

Yammer is quite simple in its basic functionally. It provides a constantly flowing news feed to which any member of that Yammer network can add theit own conversation starters or answer existing questions. Through Yammer, the conversation with the work community is fast and uncomplicated. You can get an answer to the question quickly. You can create several networks in Yammer, although companies usually only create one network and subgroups under it fot departments or teams, for example. The service also offers the possibility of sending private messages. You can ad your own messages to the news stream a text, images, other employees can be thanked or praised, upcoming events can be advertised on the calendar, and the most important messages can be marked as bulletins. Each conversation entry can be marked/tagged with keywords, which can later be used in the search.

LinkedIn

In the work community, everyone would have their own linkedin site. Everyone can share their own information about the training. You should also tell about former jobs. The service can also be used as a communication tool with people in the same field. Linkedin can be very useful for your career. Maybe I will finally do it myself now.

Twitter

I don’t use Twitter myself, but users send and receive tweets here. It is social networking. Tweets can be read by anyone, but senders can keep them private. Twitter offers the opportunity to keep up with the world situation. It is a service of public centers. There you can follow, for example, people in your own field.

Self-evaluation

While doing this assignment, I reallized how big social media is in our everyday life. This also made me think about the advantages and disadvantages of social media both at work and in my free time. Using social media also take a lot of time. I myself don’t have enough time to learn all possible applications.

I also learned to think about which applications are suitable for my own work. Instagram and Facebook had been the most used and will continue to be so. It was nice to write a blog and read other people’s thoughts. The english language was a little bit stressful at first. I have to learn more professional vocabulary in the future.
