Digi Citizen

KELA – The Social Insurance Institution of Finland has helped me many ways. During my studies, I received support for my studies. In some point of life we have had housing benefit. Maternity allowance and child care support when I become mother and also child benefit. Kela also gives support when my child needed speech therapy and occupational therapy.

OmaKanta is easy to use. I have visited there many times for my own or children’s sites. I acces there with mobilebank.

When I was signing in Keva’s site, it informs me that they that my pension matter deals Varma. So I did sign in there. Pension is not much and I do have many many years left to work. Thinking, that it’s good I’m studying now to get a better job and earn more money (hope so) in future and when i’ll get pension.

I visit eBay. This was the first time. I think you can find things there that are cheap or expensive. I have no idea, is eBay reliable digital shop, but I wouldn’t shop there. I visit digital shops often, but I use shops I can shop in finnish. Also I use only shops that I know it’s reliable.

Application I use very often, nearly by daily is banking app. It’s easy to use and very helpfull in every day use. With banking app you can use many different and important apps or websites, like authenticate to the pages of Kela or Omakanta where you can to handle things like your own health information. Other application thet I use often, nearly daily too, is Wilma. There, I can handle things about both my sons school, such as sending a message to the teacher, notifying or reviewing future exams, and test evaluations.

Digitalization and digital gap. Risks and challenges for those people, who do not use virtual services is example banking app. With banking app you can see your bank account, pay bills, authenticate in different sites where you can handle things like your health information. All those things you can do without banking app but it’s not easy. Banks are not open every day, some little cities doesn’t have bank att all and it means that you need to go other city to visit a bank. Online banking codes are needed for strong authentication, which is now required in many ways, such as when applying for an ID or passport.

This has been really interesting and educational, but also a bit difficult. Although I think I speak and write English fluently, making this blog has been more challenging than I guessed. On the other hand, this is why this has been a place of learning, because literally I have had to learn a lot when I leave my comfort zone. Building and writing a blog was new and putting up pictures here, not so easy. But I made it, got screenshot from my test and got that under there!

Here is my report from Digital Competence Test:
