KELA SERVICES AND MY PENSION IN FUTURE

The Social Insurance Institution of Finland is called KELA. I´m familiar with KELA´s services for families with children. I have two kids and KELA pays me child benefit every month as long as my kids are 17 years old. I have also recieved a study support and housing support earlier from KELA. Members of our family have KELA-cards which means we have health insurance in Finland. We also have European Health Care cards. That means we should recieve medically necessary treatment when we travel. One of our family members has asthma. He recieves allowance from KELA for his  medicines.

I didn´t find any information about my pension from KEVA. I have been working for private sector so that´s why I checked my pension with the help of the empoyment pension website. My retirement age should be at the age of 69. That sound crazy to work in kindergarten at that age. I guess I have to come up with other career plans…. The amount of my pension is about 2000 euros.

MY HEALTH CARE DATA ON OMAKANTA

I dont´t use Omakanta so often because I`ve been pretty healthy. I use Omakanta if I need to check results of laboratory test or renew the recipes. I used to see my childrens health information in Omakanta when they were younger. That was very useful. Logging into your Omakanta-pages is possible with strong identification, for example your online-banking code.

ONLINE SHOPPING

I am quite careful with shopping online. I have some suspicions about using credit card or do shopping on foreign online stores. I doubt that I won´t get my shopping and I´ll only lose my money.  Mostly I use online shopping to do grocery shopping, buy cosmetics or some clothes. I use only Finnish online stores. I find it safer and I also like to support Finnish companies. I use booking.com-application on holidays to find suitable accommodation options. I thiks it is easy to comare different options using Booking.com. I think its´s quite annoying to create an account to pay your shopping via PayPal or Klarna or what ever. So I prefer to pay via online banking or mobilepay.

DIGI-DAYCARE

I have been working in early childhood education for over ten years. During that time there has been a huge  digital leap. In this blog post of mine I will tell a few examples from digital everyday life in early childhood education.

We use this Daisy application every day. Families book the days and hours they need for daycare online, we send messages online, we report working hours and we store important documents (like child´s individual plan) online. Daisy is quite convenient but the mobile version that we use on the phone is not perfect. When we have to check some information or modify some marks we have to use computer. Most of the multi-professional meetings  and education for employees take place in Teams. This saves time and makes it easier to find a common time. We also have an Instagram account to document our action and to advertise our kindergarten. Altough this digital leap makes some things easier, the flip side is that the adults in kindergarten spend a large part of their working time using some digital advise instead of actually beeing with the kids.

DIGITAL CAP

Nowadays many services are online only. It may be difficult to get service in traditional way in everyday services. Paying bills or dealing with different agencies you need to know to use online services. That is not easy for elderly people. My parents are struggling with digitalization and they often need help if they have to deal with different agencies or take care of their healtcare issues. If you don´t have an e-mail address or online banking ID, it´s very difficult to deal with everyday services. Even finding phone numbers for doctor or dentist you must know how to use the internet.

DIGITAL COMPETENCE TEST AND SELF-REFLECTION

As the Digital Competence test shows, I´m not very good at understanding how digital advices work. I don´t like to resolve any digital problems or push any buttons to see what happens. I often ask help instead of learning by myself. Actually creating this blog site was a huge achievement for me. I was so out of my comfort zone, but I did it and I am proud of myself!

My strength in digital competence is communication. I think I am good at interacting with people and my social awareness is strong. During this studies in Savonia I have learned to use techology and media for teamwork and presentations. I think searching and finding information is easy for me and I also know how to evaluate it critically. I know some important facts about digital safety.
