ePLATFORMS

Currently I am working as a team manager of nurses at reception center. My work includes both the health care of refugees, as well as the development and organization of the work of nursing team. I also do a lot of networking and develop our operations together with stakeholders. Part of my job is also educating my own staff as well as stakeholders also. The digital tools I use the most are:

MICROSOFT OUTLOOK is a program familiar to everyone, which I use very actively in my work every day. In addition to e-mail, the calendar service offered by Outlook is also in active use. With this I also make reservations for conference rooms or cars that I need to use for my work.

MICROSOFT TEAMS is a super good and easy program that helps me keep in touch with my team members on a daily basis. Instant messages and remote meetings are an essential part of my work. I am especially happy about the online education possibilities that take place through teams, which are now easy to participate in without having to travel.

UMA is an immigration case processing system. The UMA includes the issues related to reception and accommodation as well as social services and reception money, the decision process of the system for helping victims of human trafficking, assisted voluntary return and the functionalities of detention.

MEDIATRI is a patient information system that records all the health information of customers in the reception system.

VISMA FIVALDI is financial management program. I use the program to check, approve and pay invoices. In practice, all of the reception center’s clients’ health expenses go through this program.

TIIMERI/VOKNET is intranet service maintained by the Finnish Immigration Service. Contains a lot of instructions and up-to-date information that I need in my daily work.

MICROSOFT POWERPOINT. In my work, I give a lot of trainings and presentations of the reception center’s operations to cooperating parties. Powerpoint is a smart and handy tool for that.

and then five new ones

LINKEDIN is a professional networking place and a job search social media channel. On this platform, you can create your own virtual CV and highlight your special professional skills. Unfortunately, I notice that it is still little used in the healthcare sector. In particular, nurses are completely absent from service users. The worsening labor shortage in the healthcare sector requires healthy competition between employers. Linkedin would provide a good platform for that. What could be an easier way to market and attract new employees. The ideal situation would be that employers could also find the best employees through this.

MIRO is a platform what team could use together. It could be handy for brainstorming and for creating things together remotely. Miro also includes a handy tool for drawing diagrams or mind maps. I will definitely use this in my work in the future.

YOUTUBE is a program which is very familiar to me with in private use, but I have never used it in my work. At first I thought that I couldn’t use it in my daily work, but now I have changed my mind. Youtube contains so much good training material that I can use for my own development and for training my own team.

MONDAY is totally new platform to me. I have never hear it before that. It seems to be program which I definitely could use in my work. Especially with project work it could be useful because it works in real time and offers everyone to have access on same program worked on.

TODOIST advertises itself as the world’s most popular task management and to-do list app. In my work, I use a lot of traditional paper calendar, electronic calendar and my desk is often full of yellow post-it notes, so I would think this kind of todoist application might be helpful to me.

SELF EVALUATION

Getting familiar with the world of digital tools was interesting and fun. Nowadays, the number of tools is huge and they can make work easier. However, in the social and health sector, questions related to information security often become a problem with these tools. I would hope that in the future we would have more tools, using which secret information would definitely remain secret. Another wish is related to the accessibility of these tools. I would hope that smart applications could be found in everyone’s toolbox and that there would be sufficient training in their use at workplaces.
