DIGI CITIZEN 

I’m very familiar with Kela, because I use it weekly at my work. Almost all of my clients are customers of Kela and I have a access to their benefit-sites. For me and me family Kela is paying a child benefit. Still eight months and then it’s over. There’s been a time that Kela paid sick benefit of me to my employer while I had a surgery. Both of my children have a European health care card, but I didn’t have it yet.

I’m very familiar with Oma Kanta as well. I use it regularly on my own and my children’s health care matters. I usually log in either with my certificate card or use my bank credentials.

At Keva I didn’t had a possibility to see how much I would have pension at 63 years old, because my retirement age would be at the earliest 67 years 1 month. At that time my pension would be somewhere near 1800€ per month. If I would stay at work life few year longer it would be couple of hundreds more. I’m quite sure I’m not willing to work over 67 years old at social care. Let’s see If I do something else at that time, and then I will know how long I wan’t to work. It’s still 25 years to go…

Assignment part two

I’m quite familiar with online shops, also internationally. Good sides of these pages is that they are probably cheaper and larger assortment. Many of famous digital markets are quite reliable and If you use credit card for paying, it´s quite safe for you as well. Of course it depends on store. Despite this I myself value more Finnish work and I want to create workplaces for Finns and support local stores.

At my current work, we don’t actually use that many purchasable online services or applications. Of course we use for example Teams, Office package and different kind of recording systems. But I chose now Netvisor´s recording system called Nappula. I have used that when I worked at private company as a service provider. It was easy and simple software to write down our meetings with clients. It was also quite easy to print compilation of our meetings to the buyer of our social service.

I feel that we have been forced to use digital services. Now a days “everything” is on Internet. No matter if you are 80+ or foreigner you have to do everything on Internet. If you ask help, the help is, that someone is showing you how to do things on Internet. It’s difficult to make anything on the phone for example. I’ve been worried about my own client’s who are young people, but they don’t know how to use
equipment’s or software’s. Or they don’t understand what they read. But actually not many people are not interested about those people. They are interested what kind of savings we can have, if we are taking all the services to the Internet. So yes, there is a big but with people who don’t know how to access this ” new world”. Risks and challenges are, that they are excluded from society and miss out on the services that belong to them.

It was interesting to make my digital competence test, it’s easy to see, that things I’m interested in are higher evaluated than things I´m not interested in. Even though I really would like to learn more about critical evaluation. It’s such a shame, that there is a lack of education in that area. People have to read and learn, but if you either are not interested or don’t learn easily by reading it’s more complicated.

Self reflection

I often like to quote Socrates. He had a many great thoughts. And this a place to refer him again. After this assignment I know, that I know nothing. I’m actually on my work place one of those, who are good with computers, digital softwares and I’m not afraid to use them and try them. People often ask me to help, even though I am one of the oldest. I guess it is a skill that I’m born with. In 1996 I was 14 years old and I chose IT as a elective studies as well. I was good at it. Also my ex-husband works at the field and I learned a lot by living with him. Still, after all this after these assignments I feel like Socrates.

I have to admit that I’m not interested enough to stay top of the way. Field goes on and on all the time and the amount of knowledge that I have, is a little little piece. After this course I understand my responsibility as a parent, active citizen and official of welfare area to train my self more also in this second world called World wide web.

    Hi, thank you for your text. In my work, I have been thinking the same ethical problem as you. How do those people participate in society and services who do not know how to use devices or applications? In the material of this course, it was explained how the goal in the EU is to move services online and also provide the use of those for citizens through guidance and education. In Finland, our age structure brings challenges to this, there are many elderly people in our country. Somehow dealing with social and health services must be guaranteed for them. Maybe AI will solve the problem later!

    Hi,
    It was interesting to read your text. Kela and Omakanta are useful to many people and employer also. Omakanta is safe for sensitive information, I don’t want to take risk that post miss my health information. And ofcourse it save money about coping, postage etc.
    Online shopping is easy, but sometimes but I agree that it’s important that we use Finnish shops.
